If you look around the league I think you'll find out that very few teams are truly "consistent." Everyone has ups and downs. Some nights the Blues look unbeatable and other nights we look like we belong in the AHL.

So you don't think losing your best player is a valid excuse for playing worse than expected?

The expectations from what seemed like a majority of the fan base was playoffs. That would be a difficult bar for this team without injury to its best player.
wasn't just seemed like, there was a vote and the majority did predict playoffs. losing thomas/broberg for about a quarter to third of the season is a tough blow. but even relatively intact, the team is not a playoff caliber team and it's pretty obvious just watching every game

when thomas got hurt I said it was a blessing in disguise because it would allow a real evaluation of the remainder of the roster and we needed that type of Reality Check
