Good road game against a really strong team. Final score isn’t really indicative of the play overall, but indicative of the talent disparity. Perfect result. Played well, lost in regulation.

Blues weren't great roster to begin with, but injuries killing us:

"In season" MGL through 16 November (i.e. excluding any absences that started from Game 1 like krug)

49 STL
42 NYI
40 COL
31 VGK
29 CBJ
24 OTT
23 BUF FLA
22 PHI SJS
21 PIT
19 WSH
18 DET MIN
17 CHI SEA
16 NJD
15 CGY
13 ANA CAR UTA
12 MTL
11 LAK TOR
10 DAL VAN
8 NSH
7 BOS
5 EDM
4 TBL
3 WPG
0 NYR
This doesn't reflect the value of the roster spot where the injury occurred. The Blues have high number of injury days, and they're at our top pairing and top center, among others. There's bound to be a negative impact.

They either need to commit to playing him and letting him learn on the fly or just send him down. I hardly think benching him after playing 10minutes with Sunny after sitting out is best development path.
How you scratch Bolduc after the game he had in Boston is beyond me. Walker's game tying goal against Boston only happens because of a good play by Bolduc to get the red line and get the puck deep. He was good all game, and his advanced stats were stellar. I really don't know what more the coaches want from Bolduc given his current minutes and linemates.

Anyway, good effort today against the canes. Tough luck loss, way she goes.

Can’t imagine certain people will guess who is in both categories

The controversial Jordan Kyrou? He played a strong game and is looking more assertive out there. Just need him to bury more of his scoring opportunities.

For a team that had little expectations -- they are having a hard time meeting them.

I'd say the Blues are meeting most expectations, especially considering the injuries.

What you expected them to go into Carolina and beat the second best team in the NHL on a back to back on the road?

Buch has been disappointing so far and I'm not chalking it all up to him playing center.

My only point was that with those stats expecting us to be anything more than we are currently is unrealistic. I believe to be a legit top 6 forward in the NHL you have to be able to score at least 50 points. Right now Buchnevich is only on pace for around 47-49. A good game will jump him over that 50 point mark, but, he just does not look good right now.

50 points is unrealistic for a top 6 forward. There were 119 50 point players last year. That's 9 short of filling out every teams top 4. You can say to be a solid top 6 on a contender, you need 50. Even that, I doubt there are many teams with 6 50-point guys.

Our issue is the lack of 80, 90. 100 point players to raise the tide and the lack of centers. Schenn, Saad, and Neigbours (maybe not yet but has potential) are good enough for a 2nd line wing if the top line is producing and they have a legit C centering them. We are a 2nd line C and healthy Thomas away from a legit NHL top 6. But Thomas injury really exposed our lack of C depth and Buch's weakness at C.

How'd schuenneman look?
Pretty good TBH, better than I expected anyway. Not sure he can be a regular NHLer, but he made some good plays moving the puck and didn’t seem completely overwhelmed in limited/sheltered minutes.

Missed today's day game. Is it some sort of holiday in USA??? Why would they have a day game on a Monday. Remembrance Day/Veterans' Day was a week ago. US Thanksgiving Day is a week away and on a Thursday. Why the Monday East Coast Twilight game?

Given the score and posts about the game, I'm not so unhappy to have missed it.

The expectations from what seemed like a majority of the fan base was playoffs. That would be a difficult bar for this team without injury to its best player.
For me personally the expectations were they would be more competitive more consistently.

Ill never buy into the injury excuse.

If you look around the league I think you'll find out that very few teams are truly "consistent." Everyone has ups and downs. Some nights the Blues look unbeatable and other nights we look like we belong in the AHL.

So you don't think losing your best player is a valid excuse for playing worse than expected?
