I am not sure a coaching change right now is the right solution. I don't think the team has ever over performed under Bear. In each of his years, we have had less points then the Vegas odds. In Bear's defense, I do think the team has been misconstructed by BA, not enough focus on better D men, instead we are built with wingers first.

The excuses/reasons it takes longer from BA's perspective:

1. I had to evaluate the train wreck for a year before I decided to fire RT, trade OEL, and rebuild, all obvious moves long before BA was even hired.
2. I was missing first round picks. True, this is on the last world beater GM according to many on this board, other rebuilds are missing picks as well because of previous GMs win now strategy.
3. We were broke. 100%, thats been a problem, hope it is gone now.
4. Durzi/Marino are injured. True, but neither are defensive aces, our main problem.
5. This is year 5, or year 3 if BA pretends the first 2 years don't count.
6. It takes 8-10 years to build a team (maybe he meant make the playoffs). He might be write under his leadership if he lasts that long.

We have a ton of young offensive talent and some good prospects, so that is the good news. I think Smith needs to let this year play out and then evaluate BA and Bear. Unless Bear loses or has lost the room, making a move now is not in the cards. Especially if BA is making that decision, we all know he takes forever to make any moves. I am hoping the team turns it around somehow, more hope then faith at this point.

My thought was if Utah can stay in the wild card hunt it would be a great year, but that is slipping away, fast. The Ducks and Sharks are one pt. behind. What the hell is going on? I hate to use injuries as an excuse but our D looks like last year. Valimaki looks terrible this year, and MavLam is showing he is not ready, and then you add in bad goal tending. Same mistakes every game, no adjustments. Is AT easy to coach against? I'm just grasping at straws. I thought we would have to let this year play out and see where we are at, but if this continues much longer can BA sit on his hands? We are now on pace for 77pts., last year we had 70.

This team needs three important things to become a real nhl team:

1. a real first line center, a captain, a leader, a real goal scorer.

2. a real NHL coach with playoff Experience.

3. Use some picks and talents for some real nhl players. Tough guys, that can play on that level.

BA cant improve this things in the neyt weeks, but he could begin the work last summer…

This team is tooo soft for the NHL level, and only talent work.

Use money to improve, or become loosing Coyotes 2.0.

1 - agree we need a 1st line C (not in agreement with having a C) - Captains are overrated as being important. We had the best Captain on the planet for years and it didn't mean squat in terms of success

2 - agree we need a real NHL coach. Too many times we do well for a period but then something changes and I don't think current coaching staff is good at in game adjustments

3 - I agree that as a whole team needs more toughness, and not sure this can be fixed in short order, we've got 'heavy' guys coming, but currently no heavies on the current roster other than McBain & Crouse and I'd probably exclude Crouse from inclusion so we really only have McBain

Let's be a franchise like Boston that doesn't tolerate losing. I don't think firing Monty was the right move, but I understand it, given the circumstances. And they fired him despite him having a point percentage of .715 since his hiring.

Will add to this list as I think of more. I think any option would need to be a veteran coach. No sense replacing Tourigny with another young coach.

This but add Torts. Him and Sutter are both a hard no for me.

I agree with 1 & 3. Having said that, it looks like the C may already have worn on Keller and Bear really does need some size and toughness to work with, to be fairly evaluated, imo.
