My hot take is I think he’s played well the last few games

I feel that way with defensemen when they get paid, not so much with forwards. Top forwards tend to do better with equally talented forwards. There's a multiplier effect. Burger/Kasper/Ray puts the recent hot hands together on one line.

In general i aggree, in a ideal world there wouldn't be the need. The way i see it is that there's only two players who are capable of driving lines, and having both on the same line when the team struggles 5v5 is less than ideal IMO.
