When I was very little, my grandparents had a "summer home" in Huntington near the Walt Whitman mall. The toilet was literally on top of a hole in the floor - no grey water plumbing. I used to HATE going there - it was such a shit shack. Property is probably worth a fortune now.

EDIT: Also no foundation - the house was up on cinder blocks.
A buddy of mine's family had a similar place in Oakdale. Just a total shack. Shit like that sticks in your memory forever.

Huntington is kind of a tale of two towns. The train station splits the town. North of the tracks is Huntington village and Huntington harbor - fine dining and people with boats and nice houses. The other side of the tracks is a mixed bag of cute but more modest houses and projects. I’m 99.99999% positive Coronato is from the wealthy side.

Edit: not a brag at all - my financial troubles are well chronicled here - I am a broke bitch who will probably never own property. But my dad bought his current home in ‘96 for $300k and it appraised for $1.8M last year. Yes, he’s done a ton to improve it, but that’s still an absurd appreciation.

Yeah - my grandparents were old world Italians. I just went on Google maps and was able to find it based on landmarks (I can't believe that IHOP is still there) 5 Dorchester street.
