I think a big part of this is something @Machinehead was on top of years ago, which is overall this organization brings in bad passing players. Watching other teams around the league they snap the puck around, nyr often looks like they are passing with pool noodles.

I agree....my biggest complaint has been the fact that they were either lacking or couldn't make fundamental plays.
