LOL - Forbort scores a goal and now we are trading Muzzin or Martinez - lol

Actually I've been stating the obvious for weeks. Muzzin won't be traded but AMart will be gone. I guarantee you the Kings right now are drooling over what they see with DF.

This Oilers team is still better than teams from years past.

Larsson and Sekera are legit D, Kelfbom is coming into his own, its the bottom 3 that are a problem -Nurse is young, Gryba is borderline AHL'er and Benning is only 22.

They were fast but soft for many years but you can say maybe they have too many guys like Kassian, Lucic and Maroon now...

They were also missing Russell, who makes a decent #4-5. Someone on the Oilers board said they were better off keeping Hall and signing Demers, I tend to agree with that. They're going to hate Lucic's contract in about 4-5 years. It looks like the fanbase wants to get rid of Eberle at all costs too...

I am so glad no one on this board runs the Kings. Apparently Muzzin and A-Mart are cap dumps down, and we should be so lucky for Vegas to take them off our hands. :handclap:

They would be scary good if Joel Quenneville was their coach. They have the talent to be as good as Chicago, if they get the right system down. The only thing missing for them is an elite number 1 defenseman, like a Keith or Doughty.

Why are people worried about the expansion draft now? Won't even matter until the trade deadline at the earliest.

Why not keep an eye on how things might go in the draft? It's coming, and the Kings will lose at least one good player in the draft, or someone in the draft and a good player in a trade, or something. With Dowd and Forbort playing well, it changes the equation. The same way those two playing well changes the equation for this season and what the Kings could do on the ice. Same with Brown. Provided that the big guns do what they're expected to do.

So much hand wringing over expansion draft. Its funny because every single fanbase is doing the same. Everyone is going to lose someone they dont want to. Iys going to even out. People are overly concerned with it imo.

Losing a dowd or a forbort is par for the course of all teams.

Muzzin is our 2nd best defenseman , i hope he retires in a Kings uniform . Martinez might be expendable but not right now . Its to soon. Maybe next year if Forbort or Gravel either keep up their play or pick it up.

can vegas take more than one player from a team? and will there be an order they pick from based on the end of the year standings like a normal draft

also was funny if you guys caught lucic listening to doughty and carter talking about winning the draw in the last 30 seconds or so

Vegas will be taking one player from each team. All teams will submit their lists at the same time to the league. Then Vegas will have all 30 lists in front of them and be able to piece together exactly what they want. The announcement of the entire Vegas team will be made two days later.

All NMC's have to be protected. So Pittsburgh is going to lose Matt Murray as of right now. The obvious thinking is you trade Fleury but he has a NMC and every other NHL GM knows Pittsburgh is gonna lose Matt Murray. If any fans don't think the Vegas draft is a big deal it is. Teams aren't designed where some new team can just come pluck a player, it will hurt most NHL teams and Vegas is in a unique position as expansion drafts usually are for 2 teams. Vegas has all year to go over every possible scenario and pick the best team for them. I think it's exciting, surprised some fans don't think it's a big deal.

Pittsburgh will not lose Matt murray. No chance. Either Fleury will waive NMC or pittsburgh will buy him out.

Like i said every team is going to lose a dowd or forbort. The damage will be split evenly. Theres not that much to be overly concerned with.

Or maybe worse, really. Like Tik pointed out above, a lot of other teams are in way worse expansion positions than us, loaded with NMC/NTCs or young players. It DOES hurt us in that we need the cheap youth, but not more than it will hurt some others.

I might have missed this here or in another thread, but how many players from each team is Vegas allowed to select in the expansion draft?

Really? Dime a dozen. Please list out some of these dime a dozen 3rd line centers the Kings can afford.

2017 UFAs Boyle, Bonino, Hanzal, Gagner. If we can't sign any of these players, no problem. There is the trade route or we just use Kempe as our third line center. The 3C position is easy to fill, hell Lecavs got the job done last year. Name me a playoff proven top 4 we can afford next year if we lose AMart? We sure as hell won't do damage in the playoffs with two rookie defensemen in Gravel and Forbort.

I wouldn't go that far as even though they're learning I like the d's abilities as a unit more than in years, but I would point out we had a really hard time filling the 3C prior to Dowd's emergence, and losing him would hurt. But as pointed out elsewhere, it doesn't matter--we are going to get hurt no matter what unless Vegas decides they want Lewis or Clifford or some other "4th line" depth player (which would still hurt but isn't a 3C/4D position that every team is gonna lose).

Forbort won't be and maybe Gravel won't be a rookie next year. Vinny got the job done last year? Really, how far did we get in the playoffs? The guy couldn't skate.

Gagner, yeah sure there's a Sutter player. Boyle is a 4th line center.
Hanzal with be 4m + and Bonino worse than that.

Kempe? Just learning to play center and you're worried about rookies? Please.

"If we can't sign any of these players, no problem. There is the trade route". Sure, trades cost assets -- say someone like AMart.

If signing a 3rd line center was so easy and not a problem the Kings would have gotten one earlier. The reality is they have one now that is big, strong and fast not to mention still cheap. Dowd will not be exposed to save AMart.

The irony here is that #4 Dmen will be readily available since so many teams will lose one. Vegas will be wheeling and dealing like crazy.

It took us a few months to fill the 3C role this year. Last year we got Lacavs who filled that role in 2015-2016. But we lost one top 4 defenseman--Voynov--and have not filled that spot to date. Now the ppl on this board want to expose A-Mart instead of Dowd? That's insane.

Look I love what Dowd brings to us. And I hope DL can strike a deal so that Vegas doesn't take him. But if I had to choose between keeping AMart or Dowd, I would pick AMart without a doubt.
