Back home from the game, I'm glad it was a lot more fun to watch than the last 10+ or so games have been. The offense seemed better, although they still turn it over too much. And, of course, the multiple times they got stuck in their own zone sucked.

I was pleased with the Shep-TJ-Burish line, that's a pretty solid energy line right there. Maybe they'll stick together (probably not). I also thought the top line looked a lot better with the new mix. The powerplay seemed to have more movement than it has recently which was encouraging, despite the lack of a goal. Gomez was pretty invisible to me tonight, I guess he isn't the solution for the 2nd line. The Braun-Murray d-pair was really bad, based on usually only noticing them when screwing up, a lot more often than the other pairs (not surprising). Too bad Irwin wasn't dressed, but clearly just having him in SJ is the trick to winning.

I'd be a lot more excited if the Avalanche didn't look so bad tonight...

Oh well, at least the game was more fun than most recent Sharks games!

Just got home myself. Few things I noticed was that the Sharks are really struggling to get the puck out of there own zone still. I thought Boyle, JT, and Kennedy played well. Funny, I thought Gomez looked pretty good tonight. He was really trying to make things happen. Give props to the Avs though. They blocked alot of shots and intercepted many passes tonight. I have mixed feelings with Marleau, made a few bad moves and choices, but made up for it I guess.

It was the Avs dude... No O'Reilly, No Duchene, a Landeskog who is probably still a bit rattled... Plus no Erik Johnson...

Good lord they barely have a team.

Still, they looked impressive coordinating offensive attacks on the Sharks without PP. Sharks to me had two serious problems last night:

1- Sharks defense breaking up a coordinate offensive attack. They looked like they were on PK when they were not.
2- Getting their attack started down in the defense zone. As someone said during the game, horrible outlet passing.
3- Scoring on PP.

What went well:

1- Pressing their attack, Sharks style but there were great center passes by Thornton and Shepp.

However, I don't see much advancement in the playoffs for the Sharks. The short season is not going to favor Sharks' style, but the speed teams like the Hawks. Speed teams are not going to be as worn down near the end of this season like a regular season. lSharks need better conditioning coming into the short season to offset this, but I see too many Sharks standing on the ice, not moving.

My hockey simulator (which historically shown is no better than guessing) actually has placed this line as the best combination for the Sharks roster (if you discount Sheppard's injury). Prior to the start of this season:

Marleau-Thornton-Pavelski
Clowe-Couture-Havlat
Galiardi-Sheppard-Wingels
Gomez-Desjardins-Burish.

Boyle-Stuart
Vlasic-Burns
Braun-Demers

Simulator tries to do Boyle-Murray, Vlasic-Burns, and Demers-Stuart. Murray is manually removed.

PP matches up exactly with first-two lines; Boyle-Braun on D for first pairing, Burns-Demers for second-pairing.

PK puts Vlasic-Stuart on the first unit, and Boyle-Burns as second unit. Forwards are Desjardins-Burish and Galiardi-Wingels. Burish deemed team's best PKer, followed by Marleau, Pavelski, Thornton, and Couture.

it's so much more fun to watch a faster pace w/o clowe. has he basically become the jody shelley of this team?

Two goalscorers > sea of one goalscorer. This man are genius. (shootout goals don't count, hence no bolding of Marleau, but that's not bad huh?)

I think it's your first SNOG, too. Congrats! :handclap:

Wow that was a hell of a prediction, even called Galiardi's first goal. Well done!

Other than that goal that was scored at his feet I though he looked pretty good, and he looked better as the game went on. I think he just needs more ice time.

Definitely. The whole Demers/Murray situation is at the top of my frustration list. I really don't think it's a coincidence that Demers played his best game of the year when he knew his spot in the lineup was safe for the next game. I sound like a broken record, but at this point Murray needs to be traded for ANYTHING if only to force Todd to play Demers every night. He won't get any better by sitting on the bench.

Probably will be roughly the same (Havlat is probable, Wingels is not likely). They might put Irwin in in-place of Murray, Demers, or Braun.
