We'll see how we do against NJ this year. They just wrecked Florida in back to backs this week. Maybe they'll be just as difficult of a matchup for them. They play them in NJ in January then the last game of the season against them at home. They'll be out of the playoff picture by then at this rate

I wouldn’t base my hopes on a set of circumstances that happened to a team 18 years ago, and lost, thus spending the next 16 years wallowing in the doldrums of mediocrity.

Fun comeback win vs St Louis, even though St Louis was also a 500 team, and missing a couple key Dman - the PP looked really good on one of those power plays even though they didn’t score. They looked energized, they had life, they were all pumped. Some players thought it was a turning point and something they would look back at. Feels like mid 2005s, little to no hope until PETER CHIARELLI came in and started the house cleaning. He botched the first coach hiring (Dave Lewis) but learned FAST and fired him and hired Julien.
Of course it helped that Gorten got Savard and Chara on his way out but
Chiarelli made the rest of the moves and nailed it.
After which he lost his mind and never regained form again.
It feels like this team is now, once again in need of a complete culture change.
Of course, JJ won't allow it until it affects the bottom line.
Until then it'll be a roller coaster ride to the bottom if Sweeney can't figure this out.
He's a cagey guy and just may fix this. At least we'd better hope so.

It’s about skating and forechecking, and making smart, crisp plays, and playing clean, aggressive, smart hockey. All things this team doesn’t do. Burning incense and sage and saying prayers to Jesus, Vishnu, Allah, Buddha, Lord Xenu, L. Ron Hubbard or whatever deity floats your boat is not going to win this group a cup.
