It was good to see Pastrnak play with some emotion he seemed determined in the third period and provide a spark for the rest of the team.
The downside is that it only prolongs the time table for Montgomery behind the bench.
As encouraging as it was to see the team's response in the third period their overall play throughout the game was terrible.
The team was very lucky not to be down 3 goals early in the third when St. Louis hit the post.
I simply could not believe how poorly and sloppy Boston played through the first two periods.
Totally inexcusable for a Bruins team.
Don't be fooled by this win, if they had been playing a better team the out come may have been very different.
I was amazed that St. Louis was playing even worse than Boston and folded into a fetal position in the third period.
The game was ugly throughout except for the final score.
Montgomery still has to go.
This game was fool's gold.
Sacco, Leach, somebody, anybody; please just make the change.

Brickley had an injury riddled stint with Boston. I remember the back to back games in Nov '89 starting with the Ludwig fell down game and a huge comeback against NJ.
He set Neely up to tie the Montreal game late in the 3rd. The next game was a Saturday night against his former team and scored 3G in the 3rd with an assist.lol

That had to be the year you referenced, as he had 40 points in 43 games. He injured his groin in that NJ game. Never an even average skater but had fantastic hockey IQ and very good hands. He also had "dead weight" that made him very difficult to knock off the puck.

Watched Brickley and his Melrose HS team play my nephews Burlington HS team
4 times in 77-78\78-79. He was really noticeable his Senior year. Never beat my nephews team in those 4 games.

He ended up playing at UNH with two of my nephews teammates (Matt Shramek Bobby Harris). He may have been recruited as a baseball player at UNH.
It was 1991-92

Brickley was on a line with Ruzicka & Leach

Here is one of the games but I went forward 4 more games and he scored each of next 3 games and 4th had a couple assists

I remember that 5-5 tie against Penguins in Pittsburgh

Brickley - Ruzicka - Leach looked like Howe- Delvecchio- F Mahavolich

If there is a tape floating around people will not believe this was Brickley - he was in a crazy zone got hurt came back and struggled and Sinden took him out

Ok, his '89-90 season ended in late February. He had 40 points in 43 games, which was
a 72 point pace. As it was, he ended up 5th among the forwards with 40 points. That was a team that made the SCF.

Too bad Milbury wasn't the All Star Coach, would have probably named him to the All Star Team in January but Brickley would have had decent stats...lol.

Brickley did play baseball at UNH. What a different era of sports as Bobby Brooke, Brickley and Kirk McCaskill all played NCAA D1 Hockey\Baseball. I

I came across an article talking about a NCAA Tourney game played between Yale\St. John's. It was Ron Darling vs Frank Viola and they combined for 22 scoreless innings pitched. Its considered the greatest NCAA Game ever and Brooke was Yale's SS.

Roger Angell wrote a story about it for The New Yorker.

Quick comment on the Thanksgiving playoff make or break.
Thanksgiving time line is only correct if everyone is on a regular winning pace and your team is not.
But for this year everyone in the Atlantic has struggled except for Florida, so it doesn’t hold water.

The call-up we were all expecting...

Jordan Oesterle is on his way to Dallas to join Boston.
I thought Oesterle was pretty awful in the preseason. Would have liked to see Sweezey with the call-up. Played some nice physical hockey.

I do see that Oesterle has 8 points (3G, 5A) in 9 games for Providence though so maybe he's the right choice.

Darling is a regular on MLB Network shows in the offseason & has discussed that game

He was a kid at game 7 in 1975 rooting for Red Sox and very upset he said driving home

Eleven years later he’s starting game 7 against them in WS

Life takes many interesting turns

Was this late win enough to save Monty? I hope not. I was never a fan.

The front office gave him a pile of .... but he couldn't figure out how to win, instead sat our top scorer and beat up on the Captain.

I wasn't quite so negative about the performance. Though the first period was ok. They carried most of the play, but their execution was poor. Earned multiple PPs, and if they could have converted on even one of those they're in a good spot. Second period was awful, for sure. Otherwise, yeah no question the Blues were poor, but a win is a win as well.

What's good for the team long term? I vacillate on this. I do lean more and more towards favoring a coaching change and the need to see how this roster responds to a different voice in charge. A lot of their play and their tactics have absolutely been sub-standard. But they are hanging around, and as I said upthread, 9 points through the last 6 games is perfectly acceptable in itself, even allowing for weak opposition. And every now and then they do show that they're capable of better and there's something there to be hopeful about.

I think Dallas will be a very good indicator. Not an absolute top team, but a very good one and one that's given the Bruins trouble in the past. We will see how that plays out. I do worry that the team at the moment is simply delaying needed change and that will ultimately be to their detriment, but it's a tough call to make. Hopefully we'll get a clearer picture tomorrow.

Dang.

As feared. That sucks. All of the defenders have had a patchy run this season, but I thought Hampus had been our best overall, and offers the most offensively.

The Bruins' run of luck with injuries inevitably comes to an end. Next man up and all that. Hope Lindy has a good recovery.

Edit: whoops, forgot Peeke. Two down now on D. That's tough.
