As for the Rangers, when you got to the point where the team is fighting their confidence on top of injuries, poor structure, etc, there's really no reason to look at the negatives. Just focus on the positives. Foxy, Shesty and I think Laffy's had a strong night despite some missed shots. He's been pretty active out there.

Then Mika gets punched in the face. How is he the only call there? Then a terrible trip makeup call. Embarrassing display by the refs.

I'm not opposed to giving him a chance in a lower league, but the problem all along with Mess is that he wants the top job without paying his dues/learning how to coach. Coaching and leading as a player are very different skill sets. For every MSL there's a Gretzky.

If anything, I'd look into hiring Valiquette as an assistant coach. He has the mind for it. I don't know that he has the gravitas to be a head coach, but an x's and o's guy? Definitely.
