He wasn't benched. Lines got messed up due to the kill, and MSL wanted to get Caufield out once the pk was over. He got on once the lines were able to regroup.

He did have a great 2nd and 3rd period against the Canucks, but his offensive IQ looks very similar to Josh Anderson's. Meanwhile you got guys like Monahan and Suzuki just get it and commit to a play to create more space, something the big boys aren't really doing.
