Muzzin is doing as many great things as bad things out there, so relatively speaking I'm pleased with his rookie showing. I really don't know who sits when Martinez gets back. I'd guess Ellerby based on his minutes, or drewiske because his job IS to be the number 7.
I think Ellerby has been better than Muzzin or 44DD, he just hasn't put the puck in the net (yet)

While I loved his big hit last night, I bet Ellerby sits when Marty gets back.

Muzzin was over 20 mins TOI vs ANA. Obviously Sutter (and Stevens) sees something we don't, because Ellerby's TOI is steadily decreasing (~10 mins vs ANA).

Effectively, Muzzin has taken a Top 4 role with AMart on the shelf and is being paired with DD.

The W is all it matters. Beating a hot team like the Ducks was a great confidence booster. Penner netting in his first goal was a great boost as well.

I know I keep saying this but the next game is another BIG one. GOtta contain that magician.

GKG

Slava has been great for us. Ellerby has been a successful pickup, glad he's getting a chance with us. I think his passes will slowly improve but I'm just hoping to see more aggression.

Hell yeah! Way to send those pond poppers home.

What a beauty by Muzzin.

I love Lewis soul and heart he gets hammered in every game but brings it the next shift after being killed. He might not have the best hands and he didn't stand out that much in this game but still loves his effort and if he was traded I would really miss him.

This is how the Kings dominated in the play-offs. (the third)

Btw Love Browns new sticks aswell, Wow :amazed:

Now make it five.

I though Whiskey had a pretty good game. He and Muzzin are quietly keeping this boat afloat without our regulars on the blueline. Wish each passing game I'm more convinced tha DL made the right choice in keeping these two.

And that Muzzin fake pass shot? Holy smokes, I didn't know he was capable of executing such a smart play.

His passing is one of the biggest issues I have with his game. He had Doughty perfectly setup to his right for a cross ice pass which would've given Doughty an open shot, except Muzzin passes the puck offsides, behind Doughty, which could have led to a Ducks' counter attack on the opposite end.

He's also not very good at getting the puck out of the zone, but I thought last night was his best game this season. Hopefully he improves on his game after this and doesn't regress to the Muffin we've been seeing for most of this season.

He is pretty bad gaining control of the puck and then starting the breakout, definitely the worst part of his game. But when the guy decides he's going to play physical, especially at both bluelines, look out. And with his shot and willingness to use it, if it keeps developing, his game could turn into something similar to Souray's. Just to my uneducated eye, anyway.

Muzzin and Drewiske developed in this system of play.

Ellerby will be better once the system becomes second nature to him.

Did anyone mention that Penner had a good game? Penner's actually been solid pretty much all season if you take away couple of games where he took some lazy penalties. He's really utilizing his size and strength a lot more.

Anyone else notice that he's got a wicked wrister?

Just to chime on who i think sits when AMART comes back is that Ellerby is the one who sits, you can see Sutter putting DD44 out there on the first PK unit w/ scuderi. He's 2nd on the team with PK minutes behind scud the last 3 games. With Greene and Mitchell out, having a trustworthy shutdown guy is more important, and it's apparent that Sutter favors Drewiske over Ellerby in that top PK role.

I'm just also impressed with Davis' reads joining the rush, and being a part of the play down low.
As foxy said, he gets his shot thru and that starts a lot of chaos offensively.

Ellerby has logged the least amount of minutes among the D during this 4 game win streak so i'm thinking he's the one who sits, I'm sure once he gets more familliar w/ the system he'll find his way into the line up, but w/ the way Wiskey and Muzzin have been plugging away, it's tough to sit those guys. Muzzin's growing more confident game to game...
