I don't think I'd risk a challenge on this, as Suter was keeping Benson inside the crease.
But they gave it to him anyway. So they determined Benson was inside too long BEFORE Suter started blocking him from coming out. Good for Bannister!

That's kinda iffy call, but I think NHL is slowly getting more consist on this call.

I think because he went to the crease area on his own, that's why they called it goalie interference, but I thought it may stand because in reality he had no way out because of Suter (that is the grey area of it).

This is one of those where it is so tough because I can see it both ways.

I think if actually made an effort to leave the crease it would have been a good goal,
oh, there is a dman there I guess I’ll stay here shouldn’t be a thing

Pretty much this, went into the crease on his own and didn’t make an attempt to leave.

But it’s always a coin flip, and I’m surprised they overturned the on ice call

hull's skate was in the crease, no goal
Ok, Lindy. His skate was definitely in the crease. How things have changed!!!

That's a good point and is prolly what they focused on. The analyst said it was 50/50.

This was a more complicated issue than usual, because, not only did Benson go inside the crease and establish himself there, but BEFORE Suter started blocking him from coming out, he had time to go out, and he chose not to even start moving out. So the judges determined that it was Goaltender Interference because it is his duty to leave as soon as possible, and he made no effort to do so, AND that was after her chose to illegally station himself there (not being pushed in). Those 2 elements, together outweighed the fact that it was questionable as to whether he impeded Binnington's opportunity to play the puck.
