Game 17 11/13/14--Kings Lose 2- to the Stars

Poor Jones, only Doughty and Clifford decided to play tonight. Jones actaully did really good in net too.

Sydor25 said it best in the GDT...hard to even get into these regular season games, they don't matter to the Kings.

This team will make the playoffs, but the worrisome thing is this defense. Look what 2 guys being out has made this D look like. One d-man being out in the playoffs means McNabb and Greene are both playing, two injuries means McBain is in there as well, it will be scary to see what this defense may look like if AMart is injured.

I won't be comfortable until Voynov and RR are back AND DL makes a move for another veteran defenseman which pushes McNabb back to the #8 d-man. If McNabb is the #7 he is going to be forced into action in the playoffs and that would be a disaster. Like Ziggy said, he looks like 18 year old Aki Berg out there, which in defense of Aki he was 18 with no NA pro experience, I don't know what to say here, really surprised the Kings AHL scouts whiffed this bad, because this is a player they clearly targeted and it's been a disaster.

I wonder if the Kings put Stoll on waivers if anyone would claim him, I proposed a trade yesterday but KingsFan7824 made a good point, no one is going to help the Kings by taking that expiring contract in a trade.

If the Kings are going to add a defenseman who will actually be worth a damn they are going to need to free up atleast a couple million in cap space.

Not necessarily. Can assume we have cap space/trades by that point. We'd be in much better shape with Schultz/Bodnarchuk/empty skates.

Buckle up though. This is the worst shape our D has been in in forever and it affects the rest of our game too. McBain might be the worst Kings defenseman ever. I know it's a small sample size but he's just Randy Jones playing with a right curve. I actually felt bad for McNabb. Lots of guys playing out of their element, not much you can do there. Just a sucky sucky situation all around.

If Stoll was available there would be teams that would be interested, we might not get full value but someone would swap a similar rated dman for him.

Theoretically come playoff time Shultz would be first. How about our D just gets healthy and out of legal trouble? That's the solution I like the best...
