Got angry this morning when I watched the recap. Would have been an easy win with a proper goalie. 5 goals on 19 shots, that was an unacceptable performance by Ullmark!

That was just pure trash performance by Ullmark.

People keep saying 3rd goal and OT goal but that 1st goal and 4th goal were also terrible.

And Konecny goal a 8.25 mil goalie should stop.

In truth, he's being paid 8.25. That's top 5 goalie money. A top 5 goalie would have gotten a shutout or allowed 1 goal against this game.

Insanely frustration, brutal.

Not a crappy team

We're crappy until we prove we aren't anymore.

I'd say making the playoffs would be that.

Until then, were still a crappy team that hasn't made the playoffs in 7-8 years... guarantee everyone generally thinks of the sens as a crappy team.

When people think perpetual bottom feeders, they think of us.

In fact we were never a dominant team when Anderson was in nets. Anderson made us look better than we were.

And yet we would make the playoffs every other year.

This team is so unclutch. Can dominate a game much easier than the Anderson teams but can't make the playoffs in nearly a decade to save their life...but they can dominate a game like no other. Lol

No excuses, but I’m still a believer in Ullmark he’s been good his whole career it’s just unfortunately taking him longer to get a strong streak of good play together right now - He needs to be at .910 for us to have any shot I think he’s very capable.

The more shitty games he has, the harder it will be able to climb up to a .910 save percentage.

With a few more stinkers, he's going to have to go on a hamburgler/Anderson run of like .940 sv% over 30 games just to bring his average up to .910.

"This crappy team"

We have 5 points out of 6 in our last 3 games, outshooting the opposition by an average of 37.3 to 20.7 per game.

That's a streak. Still crap until you can actually do it over a season and make the playoffs.

Just be patient. Until then we're still crappy and that's ok.

I want to see what we look like on Saturday after that atrocious performance in goal.

Last year we played ourselves out of a playoff spot in late November, early December with big losing streaks.

This was a hard game to lose. Harder than the Vegas one.

It feels like the path to the playoffs is going to be a nail-biting one this year despite the team being competitive or outright dominant in the vast majority of their games. That's the difference year over year. Last year we had a similar-ish record but it felt fluky. This time around it feels like we've earned every single point and lost some we shouldn't have lost if our goaltending was league average.

Problem is goaltending is part of the team and we had shit goaltending last year and look to have shit goaltending this year.

Where does our team save percentage rank so far this year? I'm guessing it's bottom 5-10 again.

Can't win with shitty goaltending.

1st goal : not a "weak" goal but his positioning and his reaction speed too far from being optimal : not a very good goal to give

2nd goal : breakaway by a good player, can't blame him

3rd goal : one-timer but from a distance and not an unstoppable shot. Had well enough time to get across but it gets through him. He just didn't "feel it"

4th goal : bad positioning again, not defying shots, leads up to a bad rebound in the slot. Not a "bad goal" but he barely had to make any tough saves in the whole game. It was time to make one.

5th goal : just awful but it shouldn't have gone to OT in the first place. If he had a good game, it would have been a 4-1 win, a normal game a 4-2 win, a so-so game a 4-3 win.

Why is it if we get a breakaway, the other teams goalie will often make a save,

But if we allow a breakaway, we chalk it up as "no chance" for ullmark.

He's a top paid goalie, you would think he is expected to stop more breakaways then he lets it? I wouldn't just ignore it like it should be an automatic goal...because it isn't on other goalies. Not even close.

Despite some outstanding performances, still not good enough.

Hard to say. Outside of a few goalies, the recent success has more weight than how they played years ago. Especially behind an elite defensive team like Bruins. Our defensive game was outstanding, and to lose a game like that has a huge impact on the team. How does the team look at how they dominated a flacid opponent, and not change knowing the goalie can’t stop a beach ball. This should have been a 5-1 win. Time for ullmark to earn the net, and watch from the bench and watch forsy get his chance. Complete opposite of what I expected from ullmark. I was a huge believe he would be a difference maker, just in the opposite direction.

A loss like that shouldn't impact the confidence of a group of professionals.

If their confidence is so shaky that one game that the goalie lets them down has a huge impact on them, this team isn't going anywhere anyway.

Yeah, definitely not making the playoffs with a sub 900 sv %

We're going to need him to make up for these stinkers and stand on his head for most of the season to make up for this or his numbers will get ugly and we won't make the playoffs.

6 out 16 playoff teams last year had sub team 900 sv%, we're currently in a wild card spot with a sub 900%
Currently only 11 teams have as sv% over 900, and that list includes bottom feeders like SJ, Chi, and Anh.

League averages are moving down, goal scoring is going up. 900 sv% is pretty much dead on average right now, expectations need to reflect that.

I still think Ullmark needs to be better, he's been wildly inconsistent, and that's not at all been his MO, but the sky isn't falling,

The skaters dominated but the goalie sucked. We lost. We're hovering around .500

Sure, you can say "average". People who want a good team though will think that is crappy.

You're right. I have to adjust my goaltending numbers expectations.

You're right, the sky isn't falling lol I just saw us dominate a game and still lose. I think I went against my own advice and expectations grew higher than they should have.

I need to keep my expectations down lol

It's funny how team includes goalie until a goalie steals a game where the skaters stunk, then it's the team sucks and are lucky a goalie bailed them out.

We're in a playoff spot. We went into the season expecting to challenge for a playoff spot. Seems like the team is playing to expectations,

Well, we're currently 4th in the wildcard race....granted games played is wonky for just about everyone right now. But that is concerning.

What is it they say....the US Thanksgiving standings is generally pretty accurate for who makes the playoffs?

Team has to tighten up a bit and smooth out some of these rough patches.

Well we lost the game. Think of it this way.

If we shat the bed and got badly outshot, but our goalie played amazing and we lost 2-1, it would be the same idea, but I bet you think of it vastly different.

Both are having one component of the team doing amazing and having another component of the team shit the bed, and the result is a loss in both scenarios.

Yeah, they're playing up to expectations. Goaltending under expectations though lol

The flyers are an awesome team based on their performance then? played great? You'd want them to do that for the next 60 games?

I live in the real world, process actually matters in events that have a high degree of random chance. The process last night was excellent, the result disappointing, but we play like that, more often than not the results will be great.

If we can get good goaltending, I would agree. But that's a big if there.

We're currently in a playoff spot with the goaltending we've been getting,

As to whether good goaltending is a big if, while Ullmark needs to be better, he's got a pretty extensive track record of being better, I'll take his 247 game track record over the 10 game one when predicting how likely it is for him to bounce back.

The goalies are a member of the team. But their position is very unique.

Your team can play great and lose because of your goaltender.

This is a solid team that Green has playing very good. Especially defensively.

That doesn’t include a goalie. You can’t say a goalie is playing well defensively.

It's not an ideal way to head into a tough stretch of games.

But maybe a better team getting more regular shots on Ullmark might help him.
