Only we can give up a 7 minute powerplay. Then more after all that.

Kesselring becoming really fun to watch. Cooley a really strong game.
The boys were pumped tonight.

Was a really good win.

I am glad we won but this game is a good example of our unsolved problems. Veggie was Vezina class tonight, we won because of him. Our team D is still bad, thats why we give up 50 SOG. The penalties are because guys are behind the play, again a D problem. Bear needs to fix our team D, Its a train wreck masked by great goal tending tonight.

Cobra normally I agree with you but till we get our two Dmen back I believe our game plan is high risk plays. Run and gun offence. YES we are get out shot 2 to 1 but most are out side perimeter shot, low risk. We just need to have more odd man rushes then the other team lol

Getting Durzi back won't help our D much, Marino maybe, not sure about him. Our problems start with puck retrieval and zone exits from our own end. We can't run and gun until we get the puck. I would bet the scoring chances were 2 or 3 to 1 against us last night, that is a problem.

To me, the team D has never been good since Bear has been coach. He isn't making the whole better than the parts. The other side of it is a misconstructed team by BA, maybe its on him partially. I don't know, but I do know it needs to get better or we won't be close to a playoff birth at the end of the season.

well, we know that Koly isn't NHL quality, Ian Cole right now isn't NHL quality

Kesselring makes highlight reel offensive plays, but he also makes boneheaded 'normal' plays - so he's still a below average NHL defender. Valimaki is also below NHL standards defensively, Olli isn't a world beater either

The D is in shambles right now. We desperately need Durzi & Marino back...that will shore up quite a bit

Unfortunately neither one is due back anytime soon

I think you're not taking into account the team we played, with this perspective. I thought the D was pretty damn good, not stellar, but better than we have witnessed on many nights, particularly when the opponent is taken into consideration. Play was solid overall for two of the three periods, I think the improvement I saw was a result of much needed practice time for a young team and it points towards Bear being an effective coach and the players needed more time to grow.

Per MoneyPuck, Vejmelka had a goals saved above expected of around 7.0 yesterday.

For reference, when Hellebuyck allowed one goal in three games last week, his total GSAx over those three games was around 6.0.

same same. Carolina was so much quicker to the puck; all their players seemed to know where to be and got there before the Coyotes. The Canes forecheck was superior and their passes are quick and on the tape. We are eons from that. Veg was a bandit.

When Durzi and Marino come back, that's only 3 in the top 4 and we don't know how they'll react coming off an injury. Would like to add a 4th top 4 defender and why I keep pushing for Provorov. However the BJs won't consider trading him until the beginning of the year. And I wouldn't want the team trade for him without an extension in place!

Of course we're eons away, we're young, small, inexperienced and navigating what it takes in the NHL.

Carolina took a total of 99 shots.......

......99......

Meaning 49 of them were forced off goal or blocked.

Damn Veggie is pumped....
seeing his reaction and his passion when he was named first star was golden .... the fans were incredible to him

That Carcone fight had rings of Monty Python and the Holy Grail ... ":so sorry , I just get carried away sometimes " after killing about 11 people . ( after claiming victory and getting the fans going of course )

WTF, miracle we won then. Our on the puck D isn't good, neither is our puck retrieval, we get pinned in and have to dump for a line change, or take penalties being behind the play or when we are tired. I think most of this is on our D men, but its still a team D problem, hope Bear can solve it with what we have now.

Well, Veggie has been better this year than Ingram.

Ingram - .879
Veggie - .926

I hope Veggie begins to get more starts until Ingram finds his game. We all know Veggie isn't going to get close to that .926 for an entire season, so better to ride him while he's hot

Ingram definitely not at his best. Not good numbers.

Indeed, but let’s not argue about ewe killed ewe!

Seriously though, our most successful Coyote teams gave up a ton of shots. Much of last night was similar. Yes, Veggie was outta this world on some, but we knew they’d shoot a lot, kept most to the perimeter and the D was effective around the net, as well as Veggie having solid rebound control. As an example, I recall a point where D. Moore was commenting on God only knows what, when the great thing about what was going on was Lam’s net front coverage.
