I'd say this is a big test for the Rangers tonight, but does it really matter?

The Rangers will be there in the end, unless there are some key injuries.

Im not trying to diminish the importance of this game and the regular season but ts all about the playoffs with this core. We've already seen them pass a bunch of tests and "measuring-stick" games the past few seasons. We know what we have and what we dont.

They can f*** around all they want with the lines and the D pairs, but this year its all about the deadline and adding some key pieces before the playoffs and then how far they can go whether they win the presidents trophy or clinch the last week or two

Sure but players ebb and flow in terms of their form, sometimes those ebbs and flows are season long. Will Mika and Lindgren figure their games out by the playoffs? Will Cuylle find even more new offense? Will Quick return to earth after being Cam Talbot esque for us for over a year?

That’s why I still watch the RS religiously in seasons like this. It does matter, it just matters a lot more in terms of form than it does place in the standings

Remember we played Winnipeg in the season opener in the most fun NYR season of the past decade ? Zibanejad had 4 points, Trouba looked like a beast with 3 points in his first ever NYR game, Marc Staal scored a fluke of a wraparound, and we won a fun 6-5 game .

Video tribute for Trouba?

"Wishing you continued success in NY"
Named captain, President's Trophy, 2 x ECF appearances. It's certainly more personal and team success than the Jets have had since he left...

Kind of wild that this is Trouba's 6th year here, which is as long as he was in 'Peg for. He still kind of seems a like a 'new guy'
