Laviolette's unearned loyalty to Lindgren and Gallant's/Quinn's D pairings is fascinating. Lindgren hasn't been good since he's been here and neither have the D pairings. It's weird anti-ego thing where he's loyal to the other guys (Gallant/Quinn) for some odd reason.

Those pairs won because of goaltending and NHL coaches would lick a rabid squirrel if it won a hockey game three years ago.

But they were winning and playing better than at any time last year with the new pairs. The Rangers looked like a juggernaut to start the season. I'm not completely clueless, I doubt THAT play was sustainable and they played bad teams, but now they're getting destroyed by bad teams.

But it was new. Anything new will be squashed at the first sign of trouble for the lineup with the track record, even if the track record is from 2022.

NHL coaches have 2-3 years if they're lucky and then they need to get hired again. They just want to win games. They don't care how and they don't care about having the patience to build anything.

Whatever lineup you stumble upon that went on a long PDO bender is going to be your lineup for awhile. The bar is so much higher for changes to sustain themselves. He's going to go back to the old forward lines soon as well.

If Lafreniere didn't come out immediately firing last year, we'd still be running the Kid Line.

I don't think we ever looked like a Juggernaut. We were just scoring more. In the first 6 games of the season, the only win on the win mete to reflect a monster showing was the first game against the Penguins, where we got a bit lucky in the first period. We may have gotten 55% at times after but I think looking like juggarnauts is going a bit overboard.

55% in any analytic, with consistency, is a juggernaut.

Maybe it was just a blip and the team just sucks, I don't know, but they were the best team in the league through the first 8 or 9 games.

Im expecting them to get walloped tonight but that probably means they'll actually play well in a win for a change

In the Penguins game, the first game of the season, the Pens gave up a gazillion odd man rushes for free. Odd man rushes... the one thing the Rangers thrive on ES when handed them on a silver platter. Goodness knows they have no clue how to generate those on their own against decent teams.

We were at the top of the league for advanced stats. Our defense was a bit porous but much better than what we are now. Our offense was night and day.

This trend has been going on for far too many years. It's almost funny... but it's not. This actually happens.

it’s been going on so long that I actually do think it’s morbidly funny lol

Like straight up the majority of Rangers teams since 2010 break the “deserve to win o meter” graphic lmao.
