Good evening from a beach in beautiful Mexico. Had to escape here for the time being. Too much heat from all my sons' moms. Gave away too many secrets on HF Stars

Obviously not a professional opinion, but based on how he looked I wonder if it was a broken nose. He may have been held out just as a precaution since it is a head injury, and the game was mostly put away by then.

Deboer with a nice clip of the Wild after that one in the presser.

About the Power Play.

"Maybe we just needed a night like tonight to play a team that takes dumb penalties to get it going"
The Wild are a garbage team. They constructed a roster of morons and have a coach encouraging stupidity. They're going to stupid penalty their way well out of a playoff spot. Good.

They got ridiculously lucky with Gustavsson looking like a top 10 goalie for half of last season.

Now that he's regressed back to normal (which should've been expected, people pegging him as a top 10 goalie already was ridiculous), Minnesota is plummeting.

They got business in my hockey, and I hate it.

When you put the goals stacked up in a clip like that, it looks like the Stars went out and took apart a Make-a-Wish team.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation couldn't get them defensive and goaltending this year, and they've done some great work in the past.

Welcome back to "Who Is That Player? Today we profile that famous Iowa Wild defenseman, Dakota Mermis.

8477541.png

Mermis, 29, has spent 426 games of his career in the AHL, most recently serving as the Captain of the Iowa Chops Wild. The undrafted American is of course now in the NHL and about to play his 40th game at the top level. Mermis has impressed to such a degree that he surpassed Jon Merrill and the late, the great, Calen Addison on the Wild's depth chart.

It would be a bit like if the Stars suddenly decided Alex Petrovic was an NHL regular.

Ah, but why you ask. As with most things Wild, one could argue the answer can be traced back to truculence. Mermis has tallied a sizeable 409 PIMs in those 426 AHL contests. Along with his on-ice leadership he's won numerous AHL awards for community service involvement in Des Moines. Pretty cool!

Unfortunately the advanced stats have not been kind to our Mer-Man. He grades out in most areas even worse than Jani Hakanpaa which should give you some idea of where the Wild find themselves.

This has been, "Who Is That Player?"
This guy got waived and cleared today lol
