Marner reminds me of Toews a lot more than Matthews. He's tireless on the forecheck and is always skating.

Mind you, Matthews is elite but has that lethargic Malkin-esque playing style.

I like this description. Marner offensively is more Kane-like, but defensively, his hustle and stick checking and stick in lanes is very Toews. I've also always said Matthews offensively, even down to his skating is Malkin to a tee.

These two birds have always sounded anti-Leafs

Always have been always will. With Sportsnet it's a real pick your poison situation.

Either take Romanuk who at least doesn't dislike the Leafs, but is utterly incompetent at calling a game and has no chemistry with Millen.

Or take Hughson and Simpson, who are actually competent and have some chemistry, but are completely biased against the Leafs.

I'd take an old Bob Cole over these two options easily.

Gardiner is a good 2nd pairing when his not getting pressured, at least for a non playoff team like us. Once he gets pressured, simply doesn't have the IQ to make the right choices.

Leafs need to be careful and not get frustrated. That'll lead to mistakes and I don't care how snakebitten Vancouver is they'll pounce on any opportunity to break their drought.
