In High Altitoad
Rangers before Lindgren was given top 4 minutes were the top offensive team in the league and 22nd in defense. D was hardly good, but the offense was getting it done.

Since re-inserting him into the top 4?

16th in offense, 25th in defense. (Both before and after #'s are xGF and xGA.)

Not like they've been playing a murders row either. Anaheim, Buffalo, Ottawa and the AHL Islanders mixed in with the Caps (who have been good, amazing what adding good defensemen will do to a team.)

Lavi has found a way to weaken the one thing that was buzzing and make a weakness even worse.

Didnt get to see much of the game. I just dont like the lines. I know Mika hasnt been good and Lav wants to get him goin, but im not sacrificing the other lines because of it

Bread Tro Laf
Cuyle Fil Kakko
4th line

Keep those lines

As far as defense...what a mess. Its a combination of personnel and whatever weird system theyre doing.

Going to have stinkers in a season, but tonight sounded like nothing looked good
Agreed
Kakko and Fil basically got demoted... because Mika and CK have been sucking 5v5. I say leave Mika and CK as the overpaid 3rd line they are

WTF is this beer league ass gap??

The forwards put the D in a tough spot as all three Fs were behind the play. It was basically a 3 on 2 then 4 on 3. The D is trying to protect the middle of the ice when they look up and see 4 Sabres coming at them.

As bad as our defensemen are (and I’m not disagreeing here), they look even worse because our forwards choose to play irresponsibly. I thought it was one of our main problems against the Panthers last year.

That's basically Trouba's gap control these days. It might've been worse if he stayed with him at the line. Guy literally can't skate backwards or laterally with anyone anymore. It would've been an instant 2v1.

Just go back to what was working to start the season. The BFFs can F off for all I care anymore. Play them 3rd line mins, like Lavi was doing, and be done with it. Tell the warrior he can't play until the fish bowl is off his head and give him the 3rd pair mins he barely deserves.

They need a massive overhaul on D. Fox and Schneider are the only ones I would think of keeping. Hopefully Jones can stick and Mancini keeps getting better. Ever since Miller had his "personal" situation he's been trash. Even worse since he hocked a lugie. Like others have said this is going to be a disaster if we give him a long term deal.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the game last night thankfully.

I cannot f***ing believe that we've so quickly moved ourselves from our awesome start to the season when our 3rd line was one of the best lines in the league, to forcing Lindgren back onto the top pair, and breaking up the 3rd line and effectively benching them.

That's the kind of utter f***ing insanity that normally takes at least a few months of snowballed bad logic. I literally can't stomach watching games right now.

3 forwards are going to get caught deep sometimes, there is no avoiding that. Its a routine situation and worth analyzing especially in this instance because it’s beyond egregious. This neutral zone pressure is actually so horrible from Trouba that it looks like a play where nothing could be done. Imagine Trouba is just gapped up there, no lateral pass is made on the entry and probably nothing happens on this play because Cuylle is right up Thompsons ass. Trouba last season was actually statistically the worst zone entry defender in the NHL and it often results in a puck being rifled past Igor’s face mask. It’s a huge hindrance on the team because unlike the forwards keeping a 3 F high (mental mistake) Trouba is just physically incapable of providing any resistance at the line.
