So, Zetterlund has 6 goals compared to Timo's 4 goals and in 1 less game played. We also got Muk and Musty. That trade looks better and better as Zetterlund grows.
I said it earlier in the year Timo got paid and he’s playing like he’s not worried about earning another contract. That being said neither Muk or Musty are in the league neither one of them are actually playing so this trade right now as it sits is just zetts for timo, depending if timo goes on a streak like he normally does I’d say begrudgingly it’s a pretty even deal

We also used the 2nd round pick from NJD to move up and pick Dickinson

The thing is that all professional hockey players make mostly good plays. We'd be here all day if we praised all the good plays.

What separates the legitimate NHL players and the guys who don't belong or who are best tweezers is how often they make bad plays and how bad those plays are. Guys like Rutta, Ferraro, and Kunin make too many bad plays to be good, or even acceptable, NHL players.

In the end, I don't care how hard they work. I care about how effective they are. Guys like the aforementioned trio just aren't good, because they too often make bad plays, or fail to make the necessary good ones (which still means they make plenty of good plays, but that would be true of guys who dont belong above the SPHL, too).

Yeah, being here all day praising the players is just a fools game. I don’t know what you expect. There are opposing teams who want to win as well. This is sports. If our boys were perfect, why play the games?
Yes, our guys and specifically those 3 make mistakes. I don’t refute that. Go ahead and make the posts about those but even it out when they do good things. Surprisingly, to you, they do. I understand you feel great calling these guys not good or unacceptable NHL players but I disagree. These guys are NHL players. They prove it every game, mistakes and all.

In the cases of Ferraro, Rutta, and Kunin, the good plays rarely outweigh the bad.
There is an example of a guy who puts up gaudy statistics that in the end are meaningless for his mistakes. Dak Prescot is a guy to look to as we know even this last stretch with the Niners (blowing games late) when they were playing Dullass we knew that Dak was a good bet to undo all of his Stats and blow the game. Good plays are nice but as noted for instance Ferraro and Rutta just a few mistakes getting the puck and getting it for an offensive thrust or NOT can make for a minute and a half of the whole team running around trying to get the puck back and with two or three of those in game that is a considerable portion of the game chasing and tiring for no benefit. Of Course every player has these things happen but the need to keep them to a minimum is critical.

In Kunin's case, the things that he does well make for a good 4th liner. He can bring his physical edge and energy while assisting on the PK. When he stands out doing things like that in largely meaningless spots like when he blocks a shot in a blowout, the coaches think he can do more when he can't. This also applies to Goodrow. Those two around Sturm would make a good 4th line. They all can assist killing penalties and bring their other attributes that the team wants to lean on without also leaning on them to be productive offensive players. Everyone in that top nine needs to be either capable of producing offense at a rate relative to their spot in the lineup or at least pushing the puck into the attacking zone to ease up on having to play defense so much. Guys like Goodrow and Kunin can make the occasional defensive play or two but if all it ever leads to is a chip and change then we're just right back to defending and this team will wear out. It's also counterproductive to Will Smith's development to be centering those types of guys because they aren't at all getting opportunities to cycle and create offense. Part of that is on Smith as he's just not NHL ready but wingers that can't control the puck and blue liners that can't outlet well are doing no one any favors.

I like the good vibes that Cardwell lives his life by. Every time I hear him talk he's just giving off this "loving life and hockey" thing going.

Much happiness around him.

1) Cuda guys came to the game last night to support him including Cagnoni.

2) NHL debut against his OHL former teammate Brandt Clarke to get the juices flowing

3) Rooms with childhood friend Jack Thompson

4) Playing in an NHL game with his childhood friend Jack Thompson

Speaking of childhood friends,we have:
Thompson/Cards
Carson Wetsch/Celebrini
Who is Wee Willy Smith's friend? Maybe we need to acquire that guy.

Muk and Musty carry values even though they're not in the NHL. You can definitely trade those two for someone in the league easily or for a 1st rounder.

We were gifted club seats last night. Seeing the work and effort that Ferraro and Rutta put in. You can see it their eyes how they’re looking for the play. How hard they are working the boards.
That includes Luke Kunin. This kid bleeds teal. He does more than anyone here realizes.
All 3 of these guys get dumped on for each and every negative play. Why can’t we all also praise the good plays? These guys are out there because they do the unsung work. Nobody cares that Mario took a big hit to keep the puck in. That even when he’s exhausted, he doesn’t stop.
Maybe I don’t expect the same. It seems the “way” of this board is not to enjoy the team and discuss but to point out every wrong play and vilify that player. I know, I know, welcome to the internet.

Great game by the boys last night. There weren’t many fans but the place was loud. We got tacos too!! Very impressed by Cardy. He’s a keeper. Goose is turning it up, seems to be learning the right things. Good for him. Walman and Ceci were great finds. They’re both legitimate.
A while ago it was realized that players that make a lot of good defensive plays, "hustle" plays or big physical plays are doing so because they aren't good at winning the puck, handling it, and/or moving it out. So it was really missing the forest for the trees when players were praised for stay at home defense, hustle, blocking shots or physicality. It is far better to not have to make those plays.
