I am so sick of numbers right now and while I get why @Fenway posted it, I just feel like watching the standings is only going to drive people crazy especially after 10 games

But will it drive you crazier than watching the team play right now? Even if they had somehow lucked into two more wins and were in a playoff spot (Yeah, its early days) I imagine most of us would still be less than thrilled about the on-ice product. Maybe it's because it's been a long minute since we Bruins fans have had to standings watch this early on? It's a brave new world.

Are we really THAT much of a different team than last year? We lost Heinen and Debrusk, gained Lindholm, Zadorov and an efficient 4th line.

I think there's more a problem with the middle 6 producing next to nothing. They were pretty much all on the team last year? Coyle, Zacha, Frederic, Geekie etc.
Should have kept Danton :dunno:.

I agree they are better than they are playing and the zone exits and transitions are particularly brutal. That said, I don't know how the D getting going will help the wretched power play, the offline passes, bobbled pucks, missed nets, trying to pass through too much traffic, looking for the perfect tap in goal, not getting to the puck on the forecheck (outside the 4th line).
IMO the power play SHOULD be better. It needs to change.

Watching this team is driving people crazy, to be fair.
There are other things going on (outside of hockey) that have many of us going nuts.

They should get their heads out of their asses and play hockey they're capable of. If even 1 of Coyle, Geekie, Frederic or Zacha produced this year they'd probably have another win or two.

It's easy to say who they should have kept or not let go of when the majority of the middle six hasn't contributed a thing.

Yep, everything seems off.

the offensive outage reminds me of the 09' team, who were coming off that big 08 run where the offense was one of the best in the league. Luckily they turned it on late, made the playoffs, and had a decent playoff run. Season is a long way from being over and anything can happen, but these games are tough to watch right now.

I'd take the 08 or 09 teams, so far I'm being reminded of 06...

It’s stunning to me how many people here view the “talent” on this team through rose-colored glasses. Our talent level is simply not at the level it needs to be. Yes, we have a few great players, several good players, but also a lot of JAGs (NHL JAGs, but JAGs nonetheless) and over-valued non-performers.

Monty? Yuh, ok, maybe his coaching is partly to blame, but even if, hypothetically, he had a perfect game plan for every game, we don’t have the players to execute it often enough to compete for a SC. And isn’t that the point?

Another area of concern?

Dating back to February of last season (incl. playoffs,) the Bruins have won just 37.9% of their home games.

Of their most recent four wins at home, 3 have come against the Maple Leafs and 3 of the four have come in OT.

I don't know if we agree on this or not, but I believe that the team is good enough to be a playoff team, at which point all bets are off because it is often not the most talented team that wins the Cup but the ones that have the best injury luck, and have favorable matchup stylistically on the way, and any number of other breaks along the way.

You say a few great players, several good players, and a lot of JAGs (who to me are just the role players and depth guys that you have to have). I would respond with that sounds about right for pretty much the whole league. The problem so far, to me, is the great and good players we have are seriously underperforming and so are most of the role/depth guys.

Posting standings 10 games in is akin to people posting daily polls that swing wildly over days/weeks. Standings are the last thing anyone should be concerned with. They need to make obvious changes to right the ship.

This strip Marchand of the C is straigt up agenda driven bs.

I could pick out numerous players but the one that really grings my gears is Loheri. He is an absolute mess right now. A complete liability. Not sure benching him or sending him to Providence is the right solution but they gotta figure out how to get the yips out of his game.

If people want to fire Monty, fine. Promote Sacco and keep Kelly and Leach as assistants. Maybe bring in McQuaid since I don't think you should touch the Providence couch (I don't want to butcher his name).

We have plenty of time to turn it around and I really hope as irritating as they have been, fans just stay the course.
You are right about the standings; my concern is what we are watching, if they had the same record and were playing well, that can be worked out. Firing the coach is always going to be a option, has been forever in sports, but I am not sure the next coach should be from within.
Loheri is struggling no doubt, but don't you think having somewhat of some consistency , with the pairings might help for all the D.

Promoting Sacco to HC is just rearranging the deck chairs. It goes beyond just Montgomery if coaches need to change. They need to revamp everyone on the staff. Assistants, associates, and the head coach.

Sorry mods about that last post. Montgomery is not a happy camper today. Lines are really shuffled.
Honestly swap Frederic and Kopke and it's probably the most balanced lines they've tried. That's not saying much its still gross. I do like Coyle on the 4th line though.

I'm 50/50 on the fire Monty but if they do I agree they need outside eyes. Someone with no ties that can tell the truth without feeling to blame for the issues and can bring in his own people.

Unless Freddy is signing for a price that blows Bruins out of the water then I expect they trade him.Very frustrating player to watch playing this way.

Nobody is going to take this forward group and lead it to the promised land. I've been in Sweeney's corner since he became GM, but this off season he completely screwed the pooch. Thinking this forward group was gonna be good enough is sheer negligence.

So what do we do? Bring in a bottom pair defenseman for $5mil...That's not Zadorov's fault BTW, and I don't blame him. It was just such an unnecessary signing...Been saying it all summer.

Pretty ugly

Yep but I don't hate it because they've got to try something. Who knows, maybe Monty strikes gold with a couple of chemistry combos that they didn't know about simply because guys were being slotted in to where they "belong."

Since we're doing that here you go: Sweeney speak with forked tongue
