He likely needs more money. ;)

Coyle on the ice for 16 minutes wandering around. 20% on faceoffs as well. Great job!!!
The more consistent Beecher and Koepke...about 9 minutes each. Nice!!!
Coyle is playing like he has lost a significant ability to play a the NHL level. When he came back from the All Star break e looked like this the first 3-4 games. Its 10 games in and he has had maybe 2-3 decent games.

It’s a results business, and he’s not been very good in the results department. If the coaches job is on the line then so should the responsibility of wearing the C. The lack of leadership needs to be shared amongst all the team leaders, coach-gm-prez-& captain.

The whole team off. Ten games in you don't take the "C" off Brad. He deserves better than that.

IMO he is more of a leader than the coach.

If the coaches job is on the line 10 games into the season, which most people think is the case, then the C should absolutely be on the line, It’s a failure of the entire team leadership, not just one guy, imo.

dude, this is some of the most short-sighted and flawed thinking I've seen in some time - please define for me the return on that investment, other than satisfying your spiteful thirst

be objective about it

guys - for chrissake - drop the captaincy shit, it's deeply humiliating

So the answer is to fire the coach? What happens when the new coach comes in and the same crap is still going on? You going to fire the new coach too ? How much character does your team have when they stop listening to the coach? Take off the fanboy glasses and identify the problem. It’s a leadership problem, therefore all leaders should share the responsibility of this awful product.

Is there even another player on the squad that's even earned the right to wear it currently besides Marchand?

A thousand miles from nowhere
What's interesting to me is that so many players are off their game. People select one or two each game to pick on but actually the whole group seems off. Monty has to think outside the box now and not just keep putting the same guys in the same situations and "hope" it works out.
They have some offensively gifted players like Poitras and Lohrei, but he is afraid to use them more because they are still green and make mistakes. So until the vets come around I can't see things changing.

Not in my opinion. But your question made me think if you can earn the right to wear the c then by default you can lose the right to wear it also.

You get a different coach in there 100 times out of 100 before you strip the C from the last guy that was on the cup team that has done everything asked of him by this org. Idc if he is on the fourth line the rest of the year and they dont extend him but ripping off the C would be disrespectful for the sake of being disrespectful.
Sweeney will be on his 3rd coach in 28\29 months if he fires Montgomery. That's a fire able offense for the front office.

Time to have the leadership group of this team sit in the press box for a couple of games and send a message to the entire team that these types of lackadaisical efforts are unacceptable.

This. We've been had 2 coaches now with this core, 3 with current management in charge . When do we point the finger at them. They got pissy at Cassidy cause be was a big meanie to DeBrusk and the young players.

The coaches job is to put them in the best position to do that, he isn't. This idea of quality shooting over quantity is ridiculous, this team constantly passes up decent scoring chances to try and make the beautiful highlight reel pass, heck even Pastrnak is guilty of this. Secondly this PP is so poorly coached yet they make no adjustments, same players, same game plan to force feed passes to Pasta for the one-timer. They need to simplify things, get shots on goal with traffic and crash the net with all of these " big " players.

Spot on.

The team does not have great passers like Bergy & Krech anymore, plus nobody but Pasta is a true sniper. They have to grind out their scoring and that means forechecking like hell, getting close to the net, and shooting, shooting, shooting.

Monty's philosophy of quality shooting over quantity shooting does not work anymore. He's either got to adapt to his players' strengths or he's got to go, one or the other.

Not at this time. Brad has been a leader for years. He is the hardest worker out there and gives 110% every shift.

Brad sets up plays, speaks to the players, coaches and stripes (and yes they listen).

He just came off of 3 surgeries and didn't have a camp.

I truly believe Brad will come around...soon. As far as leadership he is the best on the team.

Geekie, Coyle, Freddy, Zacha doing nothing, a D handling the puck like grenades and making horrible first passes when given the chance

I see this team making the most fundamental of mistakes, example last night, Pasta at the end of a long shift, makes a horrible soft dump in of the puck, never makes it past the defender and the Flyers easily turn the puck up ice and give themselves a nice scoring chance.

I was expecting a bit of a sluggish start but this isn`t just sluggish, it`s a team making Bantam mistakes and it`s super frustrating and boring to watch
