I don't see a guy like Nylander signing here before a few years from now, either. Why would they come to such a bad team during the second half of their prime?
Because it is NOT a bad team but it is likely 3 years form being a real Cup contender. It IS probably too early to go after FA's. In a year if the prospects all progress they may be looking really good and a smart player/agent would see how good the team could be.

I mean if we get a top 2 pick and offer a guy like Nylander like 10 million, why couldn't it happen?

Nylander-Suzuki-CC
Eiserman-Dach-Slaf
Roy-Monahan-Heineman

Then add Hutson and Reinbacher (maybe Mailloux but he's struggling defensively) next year.
Not sure id go that high, but Nylander is one heck of a player and would add some serious talent to our top line/top 6

That's what I said. We're too far from our window to go get big name UFAs

Josh Anderson can't.

Caufield has great hands and edges, he drives a lot of play in the offensive and neutral zone. His game keeps adding elements and growing.
I've noticed for a "small" guy it doesn't seem to hinder him at all. he's stronger than he looks on his skates, and he's quick enough to avoid hits/stick checks to make the play. very impressed lately

I don't see a tank year after this year. It doesn't really matter about signing FA if that's the plan. I personally would stay away from FA. I believe the Habs have enough in their pipeline and futures to offer up a great package for an elite player in their early 20s (maybe RFA)
