Could anyone at the arena make out the rest of what Dubi said to Mike Todd? He made a comment about being glad our fans were a little louder than their fans and then it became difficult to hear...Mike Todd ended with "couldn't have said it better myself"....

Not sure if he took a swing or not (I was trying to watch the game instead of that idiot), but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's really sad when you take your kids to a sporting event and have to deal with obnoxious fans sitting next to you.
Had one incident when I attended one game we played the Blackhawks I had my then 7 year old nephew with me and had this loser sitting a row below us who clearly had enough booze to sedate a large farm animal.
He yelled every profane words and sexual comments you imagine and even a few slurs. Thankfully he was finally booted out after the 1st intermission. My nephew told me "he really needs his mouth washed out with soap."
We still had a good time but it does kind of make you think twice of taking young children to sporting events. That's why I don't ever take my nephews to a NFL Football game because of that.
That being said I think the Blue Jackets, Nationwide Arena, and the NHL generally do a pretty good job of keeping things family friendly. However I would love to see the Blue Jackets have "family fun zones" where those sections would be restricted to families where alcohol or profanity is STRICTLY forbidden like at many other venues.

Also a good sign that we're winning in regulation - 4 of our 5 wins have come in this manner. When tiebreaker time comes down the line, it's always good to bank some of these now.

Pretty amazing to see the Leafs fans accuse the refs of losing the game for them. Which team had the 4 vs 3 opportunity again when they let in a shorty? hmm. Jackets will be hard pressed to get respect in this league, but at the end of the day who cares. Just keep saying what a terrible team we are and we'll happily continue to fly under the radar, picking up points on a nightly basis.

Thoughts...

Howson is a genius for drafting Murray. He's going to be real good, for a real long time for the Jackets.
Make Dubinsky the Captain.
I'm all for signing Gaborik for 5 years.
Make Dubinsky the Captain.
Lots of low brow Leafs fans in the house tonight.
Make Dubinsky the Captain.
The Leafs won't soon forget that 5th goal, but when you basically quit, that happens.
Make Dubinsky the Captain.
I'm not sure why the Leaf fans on HF are whining so bad about the refs, perhaps a defense mechanism?
Make Dubinsky the Captain.
Great win and a great way to get back to .500.

I guess my biggest takeaway from the night.

MAKE DUBINSKY THE CAPTAIN

I was sitting dead center of a large group of leaf fans section 102

They where all great and I had an amazing time talking to and joking with them all. I advised them on some spots to hit tomorrow and directed them towards the rbar after the game. Best interaction I've ever had with a opposing fan base.

They where completely blitzed. They where inexplicably yelling at the refs. There was some language. I'm glad I didn't take either of my kids to this game.

But I had a great time hanging with the leaf fans.

Most awesome win ever. The way it blew up at the end with the cannon blasting them out into the streets

loving the metro!!

Having other teams hating the blue jackets instead of extending their sympathy would mean the franchise is headed in right direction.

The most humorous part was the, game evolved from the "CBJ have a bunch nobodies, easy win" to "those bullies are running up the score."

I'm not sure we've ever been accused of running up the score before. I might actually cry tears of legitimacy.

Don't underestimate the draw of high school football 'round these parts.

EDIT: Rimer said 17,000+ on the broadcast, though.

It was definitely a disappointing crowd

But there was several large groups of lower bowl groups that seemingly showed up mid game.

I know I would of appreciated a 7:30 drop tonight.

Wouldn't it be great if we get to embarrass the Rangers at some point and Arniel does a post-game interview?

To be fair, both sets of comments were largely restricted to a small subset of fools. Let's at least try not to hold that against Leafs fans as a whole - I mean, if we're going to be hated, I'd much prefer a respectful hatred. :)

Very happy with these last three games. Dubie, Joey, Foligno, Atkinson, Jenner ... what an exciting group to watch. I hope they manage to resign gaborik, he seems to fit in very well

After tonight, Leafs fans rank up there with Blackhawks, Pens, and Sabres fans with me. Good god, what a conceited, delusional, irrational, egotistical fan base. This was my first game seeing the Leafs. I'll also be there in 3 weeks when the Habs come to down. Should I expect the same thing? :shakehead

I laugh also because it just kills the Canadian media when we have success. James Mirtle, Nick Alberga, Bruce Garrioch, Stephen Whyno,... They immediately resort to the "Columbus shouldn't have a team" shtick.

And the Leaf fans have a lot of nerve complaining when the league is as Toronto - centric as it is.

I'm a marching band parent, so I missed the CBJ game. The 'draw of high school football' reaches beyond community members making a choice of local school versus CBJ.

I spent half of last night going back and forth with Mirtle on Twitter. Guy is a complete hack and does nothing but bash the CBJ. Not sure how he has a job writing about hockey when he clearly knows nothing about any team outside of Toronto. Steve Simmons is another Toronto shill that has an irrational hatred of all things CBJ. I love nothing more than continuing to piss these fools off by winning.

I am really enjoying seeing our youngsters developing nicely. Cam looked great again, Johan looking better and better, Boone playing his ass off, and Murray with a beauty of a first career goal.

Crowd size? Come on people, we all know that during football season this team has trouble filling the barn. Had this game been after Jan 1 it would have been a sell-out. Too many people around here just are not thinking hockey until after football. That will change when the CBJ make it change by being a contender.

Cya Sunday.

The crowd size astonished me. While I fortunately was not at the infamous Pens fiasco two years ago, I was amazed that at least 45 % of the lower bowl was Leaf fans. I was surrounded by them. On our defensive end in the area near the glass, it was like a Leafs home game. I probably had 50-60 Leafs fans around me. And they were great fans. Sure, they were passionate for their Leafs. But they were respectful of the Jackets, loved our arena, loved the area around the arena, and had wonderful things to say about Columbus. Lots of fun banter back and forth with them. To me they were the most enjoyable group of opposing fans we have ever had here. Looking forward to seeing them again. They also agreed that the disruptive Leaf fan should have been thrown out.

As for the game, I loved it. I must say Ryan Murray is the real deal. Boy did he look great. Prout, however, looks soooooo slooooooow. Cam is developing into a star in front of our eyes. Boone is playing hard. Anisimov showed life last nite. Letestu, by contrast, seemed off of his game. Mentally he seemed to be a half second behind the action going on around him. This team is starting to jell. And we still have Calvert and Horton on the DL waiting to return !!!!!

Richards probably does not need the "for sale" sign he recently purchased.

Genuine question: How come some of the same people who got so worked up over the 4 game losing streak are the first to get pissy whenever somebody calls the team terrible?

Edm, I was at the other corner, near the Leafs bench. Every drunk fool in Canada must of bought tickets in that area. They were foul and obscene most of the night. One seemed to have a personal and intimate grudge against Phaneuf. Graphic language? I can take a reasonable amount of hockey-related cursing. This was...unparalleled. In front of me was a 7 year old with his dad. I get the family friendly debate and language, but this wasn't even hockey related per se. It sounded like he was narrating a tripleX film.

When the CBJ pulled through in the third the hockey rowdy Toronto fans shut up. The perv kept going.

("The Perv Kept Going" band or movie name?). :amazed:

Great game. I've been to a lot of away barns. Always enjoyed chatting with fans from other teams. Last night was arriving a a party too late to have a conversation cause the room was too drunk.

Reminded me of a Sabres Game and the fans I sat near 4 or so yrs ago. Gross.

Enh. They have a very vocal and extremely embarrassing homeristic subgroup. As I can empathize with that situation (being a Buckeye fan :) ), I try very hard not to judge all fans by the acts of the homer nutjobs.

Because the only person allowed to judge MY team is ME.

Ok, not doubting anyone's negative experience with T fans. But the ones all around me (and there were a lot of them) were fun people. Gee, perhaps stereotypes are not always accurate ! (My profound thought for the day).
