They need a new voice that will simply remind them that to play you must take the body, that checks are allowed, and that when you’re alone with the goalie, that taking a shot can become a chance to score a goal, It is a sport that is played with emotion and playing hard is the only way to win...

Quite literally have not noticed Frederic since game 1 against Florida where Tkachuk turtled.

He’s been a perpetual overachiever and I think it’s finished. His strength is when he’s a wild man and playing physical and these last few years of trying to make him into a “skill player” has completely killed that part of his game. What we’re left with is a player who is completely invisible the vast majority of the time.

I think the real players that need to smarten up are Coyle, Frederic, Geekie and Zacha.
McAvoy isn't far behind that lot too.
The problem is Sweeney
Giving out NMT, NTC and a long term contracts year after year only to salvage it by giving up 1st and 2nd round picks.
Hence there is no skill on the team or a top end prospect.

I look at what PoMo did with Bennett and hope a similar coach could get him to play in that style, obviously likely not with the same level of skill.

Yeah Bennett has always been a much better player than Fred. That’s an extremely optimistic ceiling for Trent.

It’s too bad becuse he would have made a badass fourth liner. Don’t need him to be a 20 goal scorer. Be a fourth line wrecking ball who will pot a few and throw down every now and then. IMO, as he showed in his earlier days, that was his true calling in this league. Now he’s just stapled too high in the lineup and is mostly a plug.
