Honestly, since he's been playing at the Spengler Cup and in Germany, that might have been an idea since he'd be in game shape. I realize with Quickie being the Conn Smythe winner and all it would have been in poor PR form to start Bernier. But it might have been an idea since he's probably more in midseason form than Quick is who hadn't even been seeing live play before a week ago.

Wasn't Game 1 of the playoffs like this too? I seem to recall Vancouver getting up big in the first and the Kings coming back. I may be confusing it with the 2010 series though.

I'm just going to give up questioning who plays on the PP. This is now five seasons of him on the #1 PP. No creativity at all, and like always he is going to be left wide open on the PP because no one fears his point shot, so the puck is going to inevitably funnel his way, and we wonder why our PP is disappointing year after year.

Hopefully when Kopitar comes back, Richards will slide back to the point and he stops seeing PP time. But I'm not optimistic, he always finds a way back into the PP rotation.
