Pasta gave my sis the signed stick !

That’s awesome!

So happy for you @GahdenRinkRat

Like the start, lots to be happy about. Sure felt like a lot of hits tonight too.

Think we’ll see better shifts from the top two lines after they get a little more chemistry.

Ullmark was phenomenal.

Good point about chemistry.

Lots of new faces and positions/roles.

They‘ll be ok.

Loved the fourth line, Poitras, Geekie, Frederic all solid. D was solid and Ullmark was very good.

Maybe Thornton can give Beecher some fighting tips but I was very pleased with Beechers game.

Adding Lohrei shortly should also help.

Solid start.
Thornton from the Florida Panthers? No. But, Looch will.

A win is a win but there is much work to do ...a bottom cellar dweller team on back to back road games should be easy pickings ... PP1 needs work ....Line 1 and Line 2 need work .. Shatty looked way better than preseason ... Poitras looked like he belonged and 3rd line looked good ...4th line was amazing ....Looch and Lauko specially ...defensive pairs worked tonight .....Linus held his ground ... on another team's note...hate to see Hall injured ..and Bedard is fawn worthy ..hell of a talent
It seemed like Zacha didn't have much clue in the bumper position at times. After years of playing with Bergy on the PP Marchy must have been thinking "WTF?" quite a bit tonight when Zacha was in that spot.

I thought PP2 looked pretty good. They set up some very nice scoring chances and seemed to already have decent chemistry.

Couple observations:

That Lucic-Beecher-Lauko line just works. Beecher and Lauko's speed can make up for a lot of Looch's lack of it, and Looch still has good vision and made some nice plays with the puck.

Poitras also looks like he belongs. You can tell Monty keeps on throwing little tests at him to see how he can handle them. Putting him out there for a faceoff with three minutes left in a one goal game felt like one of those test, and he won the faceoff and then eventually cleared the puck from the dzone after the Hawks got possession and transitioned.

Freddy was one of our better players on the ice tonight IMO, he just seemed more confident then I can remember seeing him. Like he knows that if he's gonna be playing next to Poitras he needs to be a leader on that line.

Debrusk and Marchand both had good games imo, just gonna take them a bit to fond the chemistry with Coyle I think. Same with Zacha and Pasta, both were solid but their left wing was getting rotated a bunch.

They may need to just put Coyle in the Bumper on PP1 or something, cause the muscle memory of having Bergy there as a right shot was still very much alive for Marchand.

Well, starting off the season right. On pace for 164 points.

Team doesn't look as dangerous as last year, but they do look faster and more ferocious and hungrier. Having some new blood in there definitely helps.

Lucic looks the same as when he left. Not 2011 lucic, but still has the skill if he keeps moving his feet. Having lauko and Beecher on his line helps a lot. Don't know if he'll have this same energy in the mucky months of Jan and Feb, but awesome to see.

I'll make it easy for the Bruins, Poitras stays all year. Seen enough to know he's ready and is helping them win games already.

Bedard will be a really good player, but he's no generational player. More in line with stamkos/marner than mcdavid/Crosby.

Finally, can't say enough how I missed the old crest. Now I don't ever want to go back to the outlined spoked B. Though we won't get a proper jersey this season, hopefully next year they keep the rest of the uniform the same except for the home/road crest (the new one with the serifs, but without the black outline).

Not a bad first game of the year. Some good things, some things they need to work on. Young guys looked good. Vets did ok, I expect they’ll get better.

PP1 is going to struggle a bit just because the chemistry is off with Marchand used to Bergeron being the bumper guy. There was a couple of times you can see the instinct pass from Marchand for the bam bam play to Bergeron in the bumper thinking of a righty stick while Zacha is a lefty. That’s going to be tough to reprogram

Couldn’t like these observations any more!
