He'd be 31 when his contract expires, at best he's maybe getting a 5-6 year* contract and I doubt anyone, including the Jets, are eager to dish out that kind of cash for a goalie.

IMO you risk the same issue happening with the Wheeler contract if you extend him long term and pay him for the years he's already played. He's maybe worth it for a year or two and then what happens if he falls off?
