FOMO - fear of missing out. To need it but not have it seems so much worse than to have it, but not need it. Among other things, they drastically overestimate their chances of winning a game late with even a one-goal deficit. Like, just in terms of how "important" things are, halfway through a tied game >>>>>>>> down by one with 7 seconds left. But yeah. So many time outs just get unused as a result, when they could have been used as 'extra gas' during critical times.
