The nhl doesn't give a tiny rats ass about diversity. As long a they continue to let member clubs take money from bigots they can't honestly say that.

I agree with at least 50% of your post
but I have faith in the ability for free market forces to continue to be a guide towards a better and more welcoming future. Of course, we doubtlessly agree that Jackie Robinson's presence in the MLB was a wonderful progressive force for sports; I think that we should also acknowledge the pragmatics of Leo Durocher's "you bigots need to shut the f*** up, he's gonna make us a lot of money" rhetoric, trading away the players that had any problem playing with JR, etc. IMO, this force will continue to push the NHL forward.
Not fast enough, of course, but that progress which is slow is also righteous and inexorable.
