Because they're not as good. Talk about cherry picking timelines, all you can do is bring in last year and prior to make the numbers suit your feeble point. You don't know Hagel as a player and it's glaringly obvious. Bringing up guys like Hopkins and Hyman as if they should be in his place...wow.

While you're at it, take a look at how dependent Vilardi's offense is on Winnipeg's best players. The vast majority of his points are tied to Scheifele, Connor, and a lesser extent Ehlers. Hagel on the other hand only has Kucherov involved in 7 of his 54 points. Brayden Point has only factored into 2 of them. Hagel is dominating at even strength as the driver of his linemates, while being stapled to Cirelli.

It's not even a matter of opinion to say he's one of the best two way wingers in the league and Canadian wingers..the evidence is clear.
This is a super weird way of saying that Vilardi plays on the same line as Connor and Scheifele, and Ehlers is the 4th forward on the PP with them.

Do you think 50 games of data is more accurate than 200 games?

Not sure why I have to explain this but guess I'll still do sigh

2023-24 + 2024-25 is a LOT more relevant than just looking at 2022-23 + 2023-24

I mean, let's look at 2013-14 + 2014-15 and then after that ask ourselves why Jamie Benn is not on the team

So in 2007, Jonathan Cheechoo would have been a Hart Candidate taking into consideration 1 1/2 years. He never broke 30 points again.

Guys who do it consistently, year after year, for more than 18 months should probably get a little more credit.

Sigh....

Ps. Scheifele is outscoring him over the current period as well.

Dang, you get lost so easily it's a bit perplexing

Was the discussion around Hagel if he was worthy for the Hart?

For a similar tournament, Cheechoo would have been a very good candidate in 2006-07. He scored the 4th most goals in the NHL 2005-06 + 2006-07, 2nd among Canadiens behind only Heatley

Anyway, this Hagel discussion has been going nowhere with you trying to discredit him in some absolutely ridiculous ways

Cheechoo had 69 points in 06-07. Do you think he would have been a top 13 Canadian forward?

I'm not discrediting Hagel. He's a fine player. I just get sick of Team Canada at the junior and senior level, outsmarting themselves by not putting the best players on the team. It's assinine.

And I fully expect them to get their asses kicked in this tournament with this lineup as well.
