Hagel. Better track record and bigger sample size. Also locked in at 6.5 mil for a ppg player or better is insane value. Valiardi needs a new contract and will likely be atleast 6.5 mil per or a bit more.

Chevy did well getting valiardi in the dubois trade, chevy is an amazing gm and the jets are lucky to have him. He has had to navigate through a lot of tough situations over the years, laine, wheeler, buf, trouba, dubois…add in Maurice wanting out, it’s like turning on beagm and putting it on insane mode!

Hagel is 26 and has never put up a PPG season?

He's having a great year, but let's not count chickens just yet.

Hagel is a year older. If you compare Vilardi's most recent 3 years to Hagel at the same age, Vilardi is clearly better offensively, 0.76 PPG to 0.68 PPG.

I don't think either is going to be a Selke candidate. I wonder what it is that is making people say it isn't close. Hagel's current year I suppose?

He had 79 pts in 81 gp last year, close enough?

Current year, and the fact he got named to team canada

Ignorance, homerism etc.

Hagel literally is a Selke candidate based on most advanced metrics. Only thing that will hold him back is being a winger.

His Corsi and Fenwick are almost identical to Vilardi. 56% vs 54%.

There isn't much separating these players. The knock on Vilardi has been his inability to stay healthy and he's a year younger. If he can stay healthy, I expect he closes any gap there is.

We looking at Corsi? What year is it?

79 in 82 actually. And no, it's not PPG.

Don't kind yourself. There is one reason he was named to Team Canada.

Yes because he's 9th overall in the NHL in even strength production since last season. Behind only McDavid and Mackinnon on Canada. I tried to find Vilardi on that list but gave up after 4 pages.

Meanwhile Vilardi's claim to fame is he plays with Connor/Scheifele . Tried to compare their PK minutes too only to realize Vilardis coach doesn't trust him enough to do so.

Hagel but Vilardi has such a unique skill set and it’s amazing to watch him in front of the net on the PP

Hagel is a selke caliber forward, you can tell who isn't familiar with him as a player. He is one of the better wingers in the game.

Hagel is the Bolts' second best player. I can't say I've watched Vilardi play much, but he would have to be at least as good as Brayden Point for this to even be a question.
