Sucks for him. They kept on saying how he was excited to get back on to the ice. First game back and he suffers a serious injury. Not only that, Olympics is most likely out of the question for him.

Reminds me of Huselius. Recovers from an injury and moments later, suffers another massive injury.

Worse is we'll likely got nothing out of him at the trade deadline.

This really sucks, always liked him. Plus Team Slovakia is one of my favourites.

I question if it's even worth signing the guy. He's proven that he can't stay healthy. I'd rather build youth than I would sign a guy who can, every few seasons, score 40 goals. Not going to be worth the money he's going to want. Just my thought.

Not likely. Sean Collins or Michael Chaput, if the team decides to bring someone up.

Not Skille? He's looked pretty good up here I think. Chaput too so we'll see.

Or is Skille up already? he's been a yo-yo this year. hard to keep track of him.

Meh.

I think Jarmo and company will evaluate the situation far more than any of us realize ... My belief is that Gaborik will be dealt either way. Jarmo has already stated publicly that he hasn't gotten enough from him to merit re-signing him; now he won't even be playing essentially until March. I think they take the highest bid at the deadline, honestly - regardless of our position in the standings.

Terrible year for the 2000 draft class as a whole.

Rick Dipietro - signed in the AHL, released
Dany Heatley - 7 goals and 11 points in 37 games
Marian Gaborik - injured twice long-term, minimal production
Rostislav Klesla - waived, not claimed, sent to AHL
Ilya Bryzgalov - nothing needs to be said
Lubomir Visnovsky - concussed, only played eight games
Henrik Lundqvist - has been fairly pedestrian most of the year

Skille injured his hand on Thursday blocking a shot.

I agree with this line of thinking. I don't think offer will be that great maybe a 2nd and a lower or plus a prospect?

Other question is will anyone pay him 7 mill for a bunch of years? There is probably at least one GM out there that will but I wonder (doubt) if that is prudent given his last two seasons. I'd resign him for 3 years around 4 mill if he would take it.

I agree with this too. Gabby is a goner.

Washington traded Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat last year. I think the asking price for Gaborik (though injured for most of the year) will be at or above that level.

You have to laugh or you have to cry at this point. I feel bad that he has to miss the Olympics. I also feel bad about dropping him completely from my fantasy team as my IR is a mess
