I was gonna go to this one if Ovechkin was a goal or two from the record, but alas. Now they'll have a short leash tonight because it's MLB opening day and I have options.
 
I'm pretty curious to see Ovechkin will refuse empty nets to tie and break the record, if the situation happens. Having that be the video that will live on forever seems hilariously underwhelming.

I probably would if I were him, but also, he has the most ENG of all time already. 65 compared to Gretzky's 56, Hossa is third with 40, Marchand has 38, Crosby has 37.

Yeah, I'm talking less about the raw numbers and more about introducing him as the greatest goal scorer of all-time... with a video of an empty net goal. It would just be such a letdown.

Totally agree. The one timer on the PP would be most fitting, but personally I'm hoping he can recreate this one for 895.

Imagine Ovechkin skating towards the empty net but refusing to shoot. Only to get tripped and being awarded a goal without the puck ever entering the net.

I posted this goal on MySpace back in the day, and some girl I was into commented on it saying something like "I don't even follow hockey, but that goal was incredible!" To this day I'm not sure if she was posting that because she liked me and wanted to share in it with me, or if she really did just think it was incredible, because straight up, it was incredible.

It's hard to say, did she put you in her top 8? Did she change her profile song to something that could be interpreted as a love note to you?

lol If she'd put me into her top-8 at that point, I'd have thought she was a stalker. Now the love note, that's totally normal behavior.

It's kinda crazy how social media peaked in the 2000s with MySpace and AIM
 
Okay Ovicast is dumb, it's just a third of the screen being taken up by an isocam of Ovechkin, even when he's on the bench
