No, but they weren't massive blackholes and were driving the play into the offensive zone leading OV to get prime opportunities. Neither backstrom nor orshie are capable of that.
I’d like to see that validated….like I said….don’t remember all the young guys carrying us.

Not about love….I think both parties have simply agreed to move on.

Lavi is in the same spot as Trotz was in terms of being able to psychologically manage the effectiveness of this roster. Before the streak to win the Cup, Trotz’s message was losing effectiveness, and I think both Lavi and GMBM understand his coaching style lends to a shorter lifecycle and it’s likely that this withering team will be better served with a different voice the next few years that won’t be largely focused on winning a Cup.

Every coach who isn't a complete f*** up gets a few years to prove "if you do X then we'll get Y result".

After a few years of hard work and no result the players will tune out a bit or stop working as hard.

Pretty normal across all sports.

With this season I think the combination of injuries and expiring contracts set them up for failure. Gmbm's strategy of planned implosions may backfire when so many guys can mentally check out at once due to a bleak turn of events.

Losing Carlson was the primary factor.

Maybe.... but he wasn't driving the offensive play. it was the forward group that was consistently in the o-zone... letting OV just sit there and take grade A shots. Backstrom and Oshie can't drive the offense.. waaay to slow. And backstrom is basically invisible at this point, does little to nothing. Oshie at least tries hard and goes to the front of the net and fights, but even then, gets left in the dust in transition.

A bit dvr'd delayed but seeing these terrible passes and sketchy positioning it just feels they've tuned out the coaches at this point.

Only slight positive is it looks like Nick is starting to move around a bit better. No one is going to mistake him with McDavid but he doesn’t look laughably slow either. Progress?
Since his surgery is in uncharted territory just really want to see how a full 'healthy' off season works for him.

Yea his skating has been noticeably better than last year, and looks kinda similar to what we’d expect from him a few years ago.

But weirdly, he was more effective last year on one leg. Have no idea if that’s just because the team was better last year, or the surgery has really thrown off the rest of his game. We have to hope a full offseason may help with his strength and timing.

They really should start bringing up some prospects from Hershey and get them some NHL experience.
For some reason, this is a controversial opinion.

We’d rather pin our hopes to a 3% chance of winning the lottery, than prepare for the probable future.
