Bad idea starting Fleury tonight, Toronto is going to be tough to beat tomorrow, should have tossed him in then and do everything possible to get the 2 points tonight and take chances tomorrow with Fleury

Like the Beckman situation, I would love if we used more of these unfortunate situations to test out some of our future prospects as opposed to Mermis, Mermis is going to play sheltered minutes anyways. I want to see what we have to work with the pipeline.

It would be different if they are taking a key PP specialist spot but still 5/6 role but Mermis is not that guy.

MN has nothing else for FWDs in Iowa. Petan already used up his chances and Cramarossa is gone, so it's on one of the kids to make it work. Putting ROR (in his 1st NHL game) with Addison (just out of the pressbox) is just setting them both up for failure. Mermis is nothing special as a player, but he is better and adds more offense than ROR at the AHL level.

I'm also guessing Brodin is getting the NHL version of the NBA maintenance game tonight, and will play tomorrow against TOR. So the callup draws in tonight and sits in the pressbox tomorrow. If they call a kid up then they need to give him at least a few games, not just a 1 off game then sit him in the pressbox.

I guess that's true but I'm starting to get a bit of anxiety heading into our dead cap seasons with zero game samples of our ELC options. You are probably right in this particular situation but I do want to see the effort in testing out of our future assets like in Hunt. For example, what if the Faber experiment fails and he needs to go to the AHL, what are our options.

He is on IR so he will miss the next 4 games, no NBA maintenance deal here

Keep the 5 d-men they have signed for next year fill in the 6th spot with Addison (re-signed), a UFA, or one of the multiple ELC d-men they've stockpiled steps up. It's not my ideal situation, but it's where the team is with 3 d-men that have full NMCs and 2 more with 2 full seasons on their contracts.

I think the ELCs get NHL time next year as injuries happen. One might make a roster push out of camp with a good offseason of training, but I can't say that any of them are too good to be in the AHL at this point. D-men are harder to shelter than a winger so they usually need more AHL development time. I want to see them called up to; but only if they are ready, they'll get at least a few games in a row, and they have someone that can cover for them when they make mistakes (they will).

I don’t care what you have to do, but win in regulation
Ah , that’s not how any of this works. They just got improbable wins against Avs and Stars so it has been written in stone that they get destroyed by the Jackets tonight

I think he’s usually breaking a stick over the goal in unison with the cannon shots so it’s probably not a big deal to him.

Brodin out
Flower in.
Beckman out
Foligno in
That moves the goals against from 2 or so to 3 or 4.
Beckman has a small chance of scoring,
Will Foligno and Greenway ever score?

I agree with another poster, put Gus in and try and get 2 points against a last place team-
Then throw the FHOF flower to the wolves because with Brodin out it’s truly hopeless.
