Yes haha, in fact I saw someone say they felt this was one of the most frustrating seasons in all of Avs history (what a joke lol)

The therapy sessions are extending into the next day, for some.
It's easily the most frustrating season. Expectations were playoffs maybe even a Cup if things go well and we add some of the right pieces.

Instead we get a team that half asses it most nights, can't string together wins, and it's barely clinging to playoff hopes. It's a joke how badly they are underachieving. This team shouldn't be struggling to string together consistent performances and wins.

At least in 2017 they sucked and I knew it. Much easier to deal with.

Man, I check back in here for a moment and then remember why I don't come here often. One bad game (and not even that terrible*) after two straight shutouts and suddenly we're not a contender, the defense sucks, etc etc etc. Yeah, it was a bad game. They happen. I'll worry if they lose the next two. Otherwise, flush it and move on.

*the one really terrible thing was of course Wood, who should be a healthy scratch next game at least as a punishment.

And whaddaya know, in 13 games that month Nathan MacKinnon had checks notes 25 points.
Other teams know that no one else is going to do anything of value so they just double and triple team 29, and then take 3 shifts off and do it again. Teams are not going to let 29 have any space and they sure as shit aren't going to let him beat them.

Until we have a consistent threat from other players on other lines it's going to be the same thing every night.

Lol. Team beats two trash teams at home mainly because the goalie goes white hot and doesn't allow a goal.

Forgets to mention that the team is basically under .500 since the new year and can't find even the slightest amount of consistency in play or effort.

This team is mid to bad and we are frustrated with these up and down horseshit performances. They played 1 good period last night didn't get the lead and then gave up. They generated little to nothing after the first period it was pathetic.

Nichushkin is an injury prone drug addict. We can’t rely on him.

Forget about Landeskog. We can’t rely on him.

Here’s our reality:

Barely any draft picks and a horrendous scouting, drafting, and development system.

Barely any decent prospects, certainly nobody ready to jump in and contribute.

All of our stars, other than Makar and Necas, hitting 30 and on the downside of their careers.

A shit, stale coaching staff.

It will be 3-4 years of clawing to get a wild card spot, bounced in rounds 1 or 2, until it’s time to fully rebuild.

Ignoring cups, any future playoff runs are banking on two very big question marks. If one of them is done it's probably not very likely. If both are done it's a bunch of mediocracy.

Maybe you find a spark with a coaching change, but I doubt it.

It's not about winning every game, it's about being competitive.

After the 1st period last night the Avs got their asses handed to them. They generated 2 high danger scoring opportunities the rest of the game and both came from the top line.

Once again it's Bednar's "top line go" and pray the next three lines (if they all even get shifts) survive until the top line can go again.

No strategy. No differentiation. Just a hope and a prayer from Bednar the top guys pull through. Last night they should have scored five times and ended up with nothing. Shit happens. It doesn't excuse the way the team played majority of the night against a talentless-but-hard-working Canucks team.
Thats where you got it all wrong. There are no talent-less teams in this league, and Vancouver is certainly not one of them. Just because they had a tough year, for various reasons, even worse than ours, does not mean they are somehow complete shit, that we should have beaten 5:0 by default.

Winning in this league is often about being hair better than your opponent. Somehow that hair comes down to luck. When you dont have that minimal edge, as we currently sadly clearly dont have, then you are not winning on consistent basis. Simple as that. We are not in some different stratosphere to Vancouver.

But we can get it back. We still can make the play-offs, we still can win the Cup. We will likely make some trades to improve the situation before the deadline - surely we did not send Rantanen away to free some cap to then do nothing with it. Front office is surely painfully aware that Middleton, Malinski or deHaan are not the answer and something needs to be done. Same thing Middlestadt. If they still did not do anything about it, its cause they likely consider their options. Maybe they are no good options currently, other teams arent there to trade our their better players for our dross, unsurprisingly.

The Vancouver Canucks were missing their franchise player last night, played career 4th liner Drew O'Connor on their 2nd line, have a glut of unskilled but hardworking players in their bottom six, and feature a defensive corps of big but unskilled defenders in Myers, Forbort, and Soucy. They play Connor Garland on their top line.

They're not exactly a talented team.

There is not much in life I can count on. My wife is divorcing me for reasons no one I know, let alone me, can understand. We have 3 small children, 5, 3 and 1. I then found out I was basically conned by her and her family out of 100k of our home's equity. I currently sleep on a couch in our unfinished basement in a city she pressured me to agree to move to only about a year before she dumped me, which is 45 minutes away from my work, when my commute was 5 minutes prior to that. She also pressured me into agreeing to have a third child, and then nearly exactly a year after he's born, boom I'm deemed to be surplus to her life's requirements (except my money, she wants that). It's a never-ending nightmare.

That's why it is so life-affirming to be able to log into this fine website after a tough loss, and know that know that the sky has completely fallen on this team. Again. Until they win a game, when that thought will be forgotten until the next loss. It's good to have things I can count on in times of need.

ah classic doom and glooming after a loss. 2 clean sheet wins long forgotten.
I swear some of you would only be satisfied if we won every single game.
Nope, they dont have to win every f***ing game.

As long as they leave it all on the ice and show that they care or be competitive.

And regarding your "2 clean sheets". The game against Philly saw this team playing one of the worst 1st periods this season. Yeah, they won that game against a limited Flyers-Team, but there was nothing "clean" in that game.

If we get beaten by a better team, hell, so be it. If we have a few games when we really get an ass-kicking, so what. Every team has 2-3 of those during the season.

But this team has shown plenty of times, that they are not ready to play. They came out lifeless in too many games during this season. There are way to many passerngers on this team who dont give a f*** on to many occasions and look like they just want to go on vacation during the 4 nations or hope the season is over after 82. Harsh, i know.

This team can be a lot better than they show us on way too many nights. Even with missing players.

And thats where the frustration kicks in.

If they cant get motivated enough or cant held their focus for full 60 minutes, its time to change something. Either say goodbye to Bednar and the coaching team in general, or get rid of some dead anchors on this team. But something has to change.

This team is way more than one Landeskog and Nuke away to even look like a "contender"... And one of them hasnst played a game for nearly 3 years, the other one, well, there is only one final strike left.

I really like your mindset, honestly. But as i said, i dont think some trades will make this team a real contender that can go all the way.

We saw it first hand last season, when CMac went out and had a really good TDL. We beat the shit out of Helleybuck and the Jets in Round 1 and everyone out there saw us as the juggernaut from 2022 and praised us......, And then we got taken apart by Dallas (and that series shouldnt have went to 6 games either. We were allready dead by game 3). And it was painful to watch..... This was Apollo Creed against Ivan Drago.....

What bothered me most about last night's game is that Vancouver is, skating wise, a much, MUCH slower team than the Avs. Yet they were moving the puck at will, any pass they attempted, no matter how long or how crazy, connected. Meanwhile, the Avs were fighting and scrapping for every inch of ice, especially MacKinnon and Makar, who had 2-3 guys pinned on them the moment they tried to skate with the puck.

I'll keep watching of course but I think this season is a loss unless they pull some miracle trade that magically gives them the depth and missing heart they've lacked all season. I just don't see how that's possible though.

Frustrating beyond believe since they finally appeared to have fixed the stupid f***ing goaltending issue.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through these terrible life events. I hope you can be strong for the children and continue to be a role model for them moving forward.

God has a plan, even though we don’t always see it right away.

Take care, brother.

I think the posts beat us last night.

If one or two (or even 3!) of those goals go in during the first period - totally different game. We lost all our momentum in the second period and the door was wide open for van to bust it open in the third.
Necas has had couple posts every game after joining. Must be frustrating for him too 😅

Tough stuff. This is exactly why marriage should be illegal.

Wish you the best

Well you see we had shit first period against Philly and won regardless, then we had fairly good period (i guess, at very least we hit those posts) against Nucks and lost. You can play good and lose or badly and win. Thats the randomness of hockey.

Regarding the perceived lack of effort and your resulting frustration, perhaps it is that. I guess it might be difficult to every player to concentrate 82x per season at 100 percent. But sometimes even if they do, pucks still wont bounce their way. The sky is not falling cause of it.

I would say lot of you need to come to acceptance with the fact the team will never be flawless personnel-wise (as it might have been in 2022), the cap took care of that. So all it remains is hope that some of the most glaring holes gonna be fixed, be it before TDL or in off-season, that we at some point build some semblance of form, where even the players, who are not on paper all that will overachieve, and this will lead up to something. Its possible to happen, it happened before.
