It's like they went into the room moping and sad they didn't score and gave up.

And Hughes wasnt playing. He was for sure watching and laughing at Makar all night.

I’ve been watching every game I can since I could afford to purchase center ice and this team is hard to watch, but I survived the 16-17 season, I can survive this too.

That said…I highly doubt it, but if the next 2 games don’t go well, I wonder if they potentially use the Four Nations break to possibly look at a coaching change. It’s a 3 week break, enough time for the players not at the tournament to learn a new system, then 29, 8, 62, and 7 would have to catch up which should be doable.

I really think they need to take a look at that. Coaching is something I feel like the Avs have always taken kind of a lackadaisical approach to. I honestly believe that if the Avs had Bowman as their coach during the Sakic/Forsberg era they would’ve come out of that with way more Cups. Bednar’s not a bad coach, but he’s always been poor at in game adjustments, and he really hasn’t changed his system (this is only further emphasized by his assistants doing the same shit over and over). The system is now a poor fit for a team that has been hit hard by the cap and injuries, there’s just not the talent required anymore. Beds just doesn’t seem able to add structure to make it easier to play a consistent style

There will be no coaching change except possibly, off season. Even then. It's highly doubtful.

Which means this team is done. It’s the same delay and hope technique that’s led the team to their current situation

2017 was rough, but I knew we were ass, so losing didn't bother me. I found things to cheer for that year too keep me entertained.

This year we should have been at least competitive and most nights we look like a C rate junior team with no cares in the world. It's f***ing pathetic.

Its funny because I watched EVERY.SINGLE.GAME in 2017 and this season ive watched probably 25?

Prepare to be disappointed no way in hell they fire Bednar. It's long overdue but it simply won't happen.

Oh I definitely don’t expect it, more of a passing thought for something that really should happen. Love Bednar but every coach not named Scotty Bowman and maybe Jon Cooper have a shelf life.

You know what needs to happen? Someone needs to sit Nathan MacKinnon down and tell him there's no more Mikko Rantanen. You need to be this team's goal scorer.

Someone needs to scream at the guy and tell him he's not Adam f***ing Oates. Even the shots he takes most of the time it doesn't feel like he's trying to score. It feels like he is trying to create a rebound or hit a stick for a deflection.

No more do we make comparisons to Ovechkin on the PP when he used to WIRE pucks from the top circle. He simply refuses now. Well, Mikko ain't here to pot 50 off your feeds and Marty is a right shot.

Maybe, just maybe, MacK knows inside, he can't (or won't be able to) play that way much/any longer and is trying to adapt to a new role.........? At some point, the skills will diminish.

Heck, he's leading (or is close to leading) the league in scoring due to assists.

If Mack is at a point to where he can’t shoot the puck on a regular basis then we’re in a lot of trouble.

He can shoot. he just can't score with regularity. The goalies are getting better and quicker. I see it in his eyes on replays after he's been stymied once again.

For a guy who works on ice as much as he does, I find it hard to believe he couldn't continue shooting to score rather than looking to set up everyone. He is on pace for 29 goals this season. His lowest pace since 2016-2017.

Another thing I have noticed that is different between Necas and Mikko, as much as I love Necas he is not nearly as willing to get to the front and battle for position as Mikko was.

It will be 3-4 years of clawing to get a wild card spot, bounced in rounds 1 or 2, until it’s time to fully rebuild.

Jus saw McKenna against the winterhawks he didn’t do much but his goal was electric and definitely looks like he will be high end talent

I have no faith they will change the coach even if the Avs miss the playoffs. I think they will give Jared a mulligan if they miss out this season but if the team starts slow next season I can see them changing the coaching. This isnt one of those fire the coach because hes bad type things either. Hes a good coach but maybe his messaging has grown stale after nearly a decade. It happens.

Management has nearly destroyed this roster with it's decisions on Erik Johnson, Kadri, Nuke, Gabe and goaltending (the latter until the "Wood" Bros arrived). And the decisions made over the bottom 6 and 5 - 6. D.

It's not getting better. It's getting worse.

Ya Bednar is here for the year, and at any rate, there are no good replacements available. I would say his job is on the line though a bit this year.

I know there's been a lot of injuries and bad luck but if his trades are any indication CMac is going to be aggressive to fix this team while Mack & Makar are in their primes. He will probably be feeling some heat himself, and the coach always goes before the GM.

I can't see us getting over the hump this year without a lot going right all of a sudden. That might change with a big trade and getting Landeskog back to some degree. But next year there will be clarity on Landeskog, we will see if Nuke can make it through the playoffs, we have some cap space and will hopefully improve on Mitts while keeping an improved Dcore from this deadline. And with the rising cap, anything is possible.

But a lot of the reason we are losing games is mindset/strategy, and that's directly on the coach.

was at the game and let me just say...watching Mitts live is even more depressing. the guy is slow, weak as hell on the puck, and wins almost no board battles.

I don't know what happened to him and I'd like to think he can get over whatever the hell is making him play like this, but man...he's actually useless. literally brings nothing to the table.
