This is karma for all the shutout talk last game and bragging about Nanne's record when working games. The hockey gods said "we're not gonna ruin Fleury's shutout because it's too good of a story, but y'all are gonna feel our wrath next game".

I just don't think we have the personnel to score consistently without Kaprizov. Boldy and Rossi, and last years version of Ek (not this years) are the only players on this roster who would or should be playing a top six role on a contending team. The rest of them are bottom six players. And defense first bottom six players at that.
I think my philosophy is that you can't defense the other team into scoring negative goals, there's a hard cap on what defense can do. There's a much softer cap on what offense can do. And spending more time in the offensive zone inherently means spending less in the defensive zone.
But Guerin wanted the defense first checking guys instead of the offense first guys, and this is what that looks like sometimes. Just completely incapable of offense if your few offensive guys are off.

I've been annoyed but generally haven't cared too much up until now, starting to get genuinely frustrated that Rossi is being put with Foligno and Trenin and Ek is with Boldy and Zuccarello. At this point it's actively hindering the team and it's stupid and they're choosing to continue it.
