Glen Campbell played as a session musician and is a member of the wrecking crew and played on scores of hits all while not being able to read music.
Jerry Reeds finger picking style isn't common among guitarist's. His songs were kind of silly etc. But his playing was top notch.
Another country player is Albert Lee. And he's British if I remember right. Check out his you tube vid of Country Boy....

This new kid, Matteo Mancuso has been setting the guitar world on fire recently. Lot of the greats that have seen him have been absolutely floored. With good reason. He's mindblowingly good. Also, uses no pick. Finger picks it all.
