Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. We've seen GI calls this season just for being even near the crease.

Not sure I've seen a goal called off for GI so assuredly by the ref on a borderline play. The onus should be on the team scored against to challenge if they think it's GI considering nobody knows what the f***ing rule is any more.
