I still don't understand that whole "Ice" thing. How do the Wild relate to ice any more than any hockey team does? Am I missing something, or is the marketing team just really reaching?

Maybe they mean that Calgary is on a hot streak, on fire so to speak, and Wild have cooled off to the point that they are frozen in ice.
Last game they were like icicles.

Lineup tonight...

Not the best line for Ohgren to have success, but Hynes says you have to earn your way up.

Well he's not better than Kap or Boldy so... 3rd line makes sense.

Not sure how he is on his off-hand, so won't many any assumptions there.

I assume it's just because we're north, and it's winter, and it's cold, so ice goes with that. Also the marketing team reaching a little bit considering Calgary is more north and more icy than us (presumably).

It's an interesting choice though because fire melts ice so that seems like a clear loss for us.

But then we just revert to our most base, primal form, the Minnesota Water

(we lost that game 7-1)

He doesn’t have to be better than either of those guys. Put him with Rossi & Kap and you have a natural finisher who doesn’t need the puck much to be effective.

The problem with Zucc on that line is that he and Kap tend to revert to pond hockey. When it works, it’s beautiful, but when it doesn’t, it is easy to defend. Additionally, that trio often turns one of our best players (Rossi) into a role player.

Kap/Boldy-JEE-Zucc
Kap/Boldy-Rossi-Ohgren

I unno, I think Ohgren has alot to learn from Foligno. Ohgren already has the shot, I would love to see him learn how to be more dominant along the boards and in front of the net for those garbage goals. His style is closer to Foligno/Hartman than a Boldy.

Ohgren should stay close to coach Zucc when he's on the bench and picks up his whiteboard. Rossi was a guest on Wild on 7th and talked about how they better follow Zucc's instructions. Fun podcast :D

I think one of the benefits of elevating Ohgren is to get a peek at who he can be. He’s faster than I thought and we know he can shoot. He also has an excellent motor.

What's the harm in an audition with one of Boldy/Kap? He offers an intriguing fit as a finisher with a good work-ethic so it’s not like it would be sabotaging our ability to win.

No harm but also no harm on the 3rd line, which is kind of the point I'm driving with. For me, Ohgren's main 2 things he needs to work on over the next 2 seasons is:

1) his first steps. They are heavy and bc of that, he tends to stop moving his feet so he can be beat quite easily defensively
2) his board play. I know he has the potential to be a massive disrupter along the boards but at this point, he tends to lose the puck. See Rossi's 1st year vs 2nd year.

The first step thing is an off-season thing. He work on his bursts in the summer and in the gym. The board play thing, I thnk he can learn alot from Folgino. Gaudreau adds a bit of skill to that line that lets Ohgren still explore his shooting.
