Well, that was kind of a weird game. But I’m perfectly okay with it.

Wedgewood was really good and yet, I think the three goals he gave up were bad, and all three were scored in almost the same exact area of the ice. First one could be argued was just a really good shot by Duchene but I still don’t like how he was cheating toward the middle.

Anyway, the second line was great, Mitts best game of the year by a mile. A healthy Drouin IMO is way more beneficial to the Avs than a healthy (and sober) Nichushkin.

Top line on the other hand was far less good. Defensively I thought they were a mess and I’ll have to look at the stats but I’m pretty sure Colton was the worst defensive player on the ice today.

Didn’t love how Manson started the game at all but he rounded out fine. I swear he missed a shift after that awful penalty the Stars immediately scored on, but maybe it was just a rotation thing.

And of course it wouldn’t have mattered if they had scored on it but Middleton just HAD to have just one truly horrid turnover, did it in the dying seconds of the game. Otherwise, I thought he and de Haan were actually okay.

To each their own, but nuke to me is one of the most important players on this team, when he's available. Our record with him vs without him is night and day.

Not to diminish drouin, if he can stay healthy he'll be such a great asset for us. But no one nukes like nuke.

With Nichushkin in the lineup, the Avs are 209-74-27 (67.42 percent). Without Nichushkin they are 52-42-6 (52 percent)

No that doesn’t work either. I just saw that the home logo is actually inside that 3 line menu. I have to click the 3 lines on the top left, then click the home logo. They also took the teams out of the main page where you could just click on the team you want to visit. Now you gotta click the division, then click the team. They just made it worse is what I’m saying. Maybe they’re still working on it and will fix it

So Bednar is saying he doesn’t want to break up Kivi-Kelly-LOC 3rd line. When Val comes back and no one else gets injured (kind of doubtful) but if so, do they move Colton to 4th line? Definitely can’t put Val on 3rd or 4th line, and the way that 2nd line played today, definitely can’t break that line up, unless they get really cold from now until Val comes back.

You don’t pay Colton 4 mill to put him on the 4th line. So if that 2nd line stays hot, Val comes back and no one else gets injured, I’m really curious what will Bednar do with the lines. The only thing that makes the most sense is to break up that 3rd line and put Colton there and move Kivi to 4th line

It’s not just the level of player, it’s the person too. If Nuke didn’t have more baggage than the plane that killed Aaliyah then I wouldn’t say that. But that’s not the case.

We will know as early as tomorrow.

The team practices at 11 AM and sent Innala down today after the game.

If Val is in a non-contact jersey and takes part in practice, somebody will report on the new lines.

I don’t know, Colton right now is so bad defensively I can’t even think of where to put him where he’s not such a huge Kia I pity, but Kelly at 3C is simply not working at all. And that’s not a diss on Kelly. Dude is doing his best but he’s a career 4th liner (and IIRC usually a winger) having to carry a huge defensive load as the third best center on the team.

I guess put it this way—is Parker Kelly really the third-best center on the team? If so then the Avs need to make a trade. Now.

FTR I don’t think he is.
