With both Jiříček and Treniyawn in the lineup, we have the two most awkward looking skaters in the entire NHL on our team.

Jiricek looks worth the price we paid , I’m much more settled after seeing him play with nhl level players and looking like he can find a way to fit in. Hopefully he doesn’t make any big mistakes and gets a nice confidence boost from this

Jiricek is raw but there's definitely something there
Extremely unpolished but offers something super unique - a booming shot and a big dman willing to make offensive risky pinches. Obviously needs to iron it out and make choose better moments but at least its interesting to see if that can be developed and rounded out.

Jiricek is an awkward skater, but he's really smooth with the puck. His game has grown on me the more I've watched him. I actually like aggressiveness like him where he fills deep into the offensive zone and I think we have the system and players around him generally to fill his spot when he goes deep into the offensive zone. I can see though how he gets into trouble with his positioning and aggressiveness and how because of his size he's a little top heavy when he's moving laterally. He does seem to kind of make it work and to me it's not really that he can't get to the places he needs to get to on the ice he's just not that smooth. I think that leads to him being a little bit not positionally sound but his reach and frame probably will make up for that.

I like him when he's the free rider so to speak playing in a sound structure versus playing in the slop of the AHL. I think he'll probably get more sound with his skating and understanding of spacing to some degree. And I get that on first watch it looks a little awkward.

He's strong too

My favorite thing about him is that he just goes for it- a shot, a pinch, a hit, doesnt matter. He's not held back by stupid things like "should he be doing that"

Also honestly we're not playing that badly. You can see they had a gameplan to be pretty cautious and try to stay structured and dump chase and follow pucks to the net. They were always going to need Gus to play really well in this one and he hasn't. I think he normally makes those 2 high slot saves, but they were also good shots and they had time and space to pick a spot in the middle of the slot.. and those Avs players have good shots. I'm mostly watching this one for Jirecek and I hope Boldy/Rossi get points for my own positivity.

It's crazy how he looks like an awkward skater and then the puck gets on his stick and he looks smooth and super natural for a big guy and has this really soft touch even on his passes. It's kind of mesmerizing to watch

I’m wondering if some of his awkwardness without the puck is his inability ti quickly process what an attacker is doing and the best lines and angles to take on them.

Someday someone on the top line will have to shoot

Zucc with the cross ice pass to direct turnover. Can we just name that pass the Zucc?

The f*** is Zuke doing? Blue line giveaway, the spin-o-rama on the backcheck...leaving Gus out to dry

Jiricek better than I thought he would be. May just be a matter of confidence and improving his skating. Blueline is going to be a high-scoring one when him and Buium come into their own
