From the Canucks board, Tocchet on tonight's game:

(Nice job @Vector!)

Tonight’s Game
  • Another tough game and good challenge; looking forward to these types of challenges
Goaltending
  • Demko starting
  • Lankinen was on the ice but is not feeling great
  • Silovs backing up
Defence
  • Desharnais will play; Friedman coming out
  • Forbort not ready to play yet
Colorado Avalanche
  • Can’t let them free-wheel in the neutral zone
  • No different than playing the Panthers
  • Have to go through people
  • Mackinnon moves his feet and when you move, options open up
Messaging to Players
  • Recent record is not horrible
  • Just need some guys to be more consistent
  • Need to be focuses; continue to teach them and remind them what’s at stake and adjust icetime
Leadership Group
  • Haven’t had them together for the entire year
  • When they are together it helps the room
Moments in the Game
  • The game is played pretty even 80% of the time but 20% there’s moments where you need a guy to make a play
  • When inconsistently comes in, you lost focus twice and the puck ends up in your net
  • Need to stay in the moment
  • When you have a rush chance, take that moment and do something with it
Fixing Mistakes
  • Reps will help fix consistent mistakes
  • Have talked about meeting pressure with Pressure
  • Sasson is playing in these pressure moments and is holding on to the puck and realizing what he can do
  • Need to be put into pressure situations all the time
  • Don’t panic under pressure
Flu Bug
  • Need to separate the sick players
  • A lot of teams get flu bugs
  • Listen to your science team and go from there

It's been a while since the last time a guy has scored in his first NHL game for the Avs, I think tonight's the night !

You guys remember when it used to happen against us almost every single time?!

Where do you live?

Ontario for me, so this week is 10:30, 10:30, and 10:00 PM starts.

I don't mind as I've always been a late owl. Kids are asleep and I get to enjoy the games with just me and the dogs. Sometimes, Captain Morgan shows up.

Same, I'm in Ontario too and I usually don't go to to bed until 4AM. My head is clearest and I'm at my calmest when the sun sets. I'm glad being a doctoral student means I can do my work overnight and get up later (unless I have to be in particularly early). Night owls for life :dm:

Yeah this is a shit one for us East Coasters but I'll at least watch the 1st period and maybe a bit more. Who knows.

Damn. I typically wake up at 4:30am. Gym at 5.

These late games get recorded and watched the next day.
