Last time I've been this impressed by a goalie debut with similar attributes was Keumper. Blackwood has looked great so far. I knew he had the size but he moves very well in net. Really night and day when you compare him to someone like Annunen. He also has been controlling his rebounds and is playing the angles so well. The shooter has little to room for error once Blackwood sets his feet. You can see why he was a former high draft pick. Cmac might've found something here.

I'm cautiously optimistic so far.

Yes, but this is what we need. The goalie to make the extra save when the team doesn't have its legs.

We were never getting that with the previous tandem.

Would be very happy to be totally wrong on Blackwood. Didn't like the price we paid and didn't think he was a meaningful upgrade in net... So far, very happy with how things are looking.

Blackwood could be like the 24th best goalie in the league, and it would still be an upgrade.

I've actually really liked his game tonight. I didn't mind it the other night (saw more good/decent than bad). I'm sure he's riding a high right now, but if he could play like this consistently, he would be fantastic as our #6 next to Malinki bringing a bit of size and snarl we really are lacking...even when Manson is in the lineup, Manson reacts to stuff that happens to us. Middleton doesn't mind stiring the pot and creating the stink.

I've enjoyed that too. That scrum in front of the net on the pk was a good example.. He put someone on their ass; don't be swatting the goalie

Yeah the bottom pair is an adventure, but they're still not icing it over and over or putting it out of play. They do clear the net when things get interesting too.
