Ya but the Lightnings expected goals for wasn't that high so the team is off the hook apparently.
I mean the least the goalies could do is save the easy shots then. Which they still aren’t doing. Either make the saves your supposed to or make some difficult saves. They’re currently doing neither.

Oh definitely. Not defending the goalies by any means they're shit. The team just also sucks.

I just don't think thats even true. It just looks like that because every mistake ends up in the net. Our high danger chances% is 10th best in league and our scoring chances% is 3rd best in the league. We do however have the worst goaltending in the league by almost 2% though...

Yeah at this point, I'd like to change both honestly. I'm not seeing much of a future for either guy.

I really don't think Bednar likes Annunen much at all so he's behind the eight ball to begin with.

Is it too much to ask that they do both?

I guess Toews could have done better on that goal, position himself better, but the puck still deflected off Georgiev straight to the Glendening’s stick.
So Georgiev's fault then...aye?

Actually, at some point, the defending D have to actually take away the 2nd fwd's stick restricting the possibility of any 2nd shot. Toews just stood there and watched.

Cover the guy dammit! Don't just watch.

Toews was in observation mode all game.

If we're being honest with ourselves, he's been left out to dry many times this year. That was not an isolated incident. Our D has been good at limiting opportunities as a whole, but when they do break down, they are leaving the goalies little to no chance.

George has been giving up bad goals, absolutely, but it doesn't mean he can't be frustrated when others shit the bed in front of him. Rail on him for his poor play, not on him showing his emotions out there. It shows he cares, and he's not checked out.
It's happened a lot this season. Avs tightened things up for Justus during his short win streak. Then, were stronger in front of Georgiev. When George looked to have regained his poised, they loosened their coverage and sought to restart their quick rush. Unfortunately last nite was replete with poor and near non existent puck recovery and possession. Tampa owned the puck. And the Avs,

Eh, even though it came on the heels of a shorthanded 2-on-1 I did not like the first goal he gave up. Toews played that well (which is great because Avs defensemen have been so distrustful of the goalies that they try like hell to prevent the pass, which almost never works) and forced a somewhat bad-angled shot that Georgiev easily sees coming. Despite that, his horrendous rebound control still manages to serve the puck right up to Glendening who pots it with ease. I mean, why even bother playing the 2-on-1 properly if your goalie is going to give the other guy the puck anyway?

He simply cannot do that, no. He needs to either eat that f***ing puck or steer the rebound AWAY. Not what he did there, but then again it's not the first time he's coughed up a puck in the worst possible spot.

The other goals, yeah, he didn't really have a shot at. But that one, despite the lackluster power play and resulting turnover that led to it, he simply played that horribly.
Glendening was open, going to the net aiming for the post as he should and was handed a gift rebound in part, because Toews post shot positioning left him there watching. Blame Georgiev too, but crap, rebounds happen. As a Dman, be ready as best you are able for the unanticipated.

Personnally, I would have transitioned and moved to cover the charging Glendening when it became evident fwd 1 was going to take the shot. I suppose that under Bednar's system, Toews is expected to focus on clearing any rebound. Maybe that's how it's played today and I am just too olde school these days.

I don't know what is more troubling. Toews play this season. Or the fact that this is the first of a seven year deal.

Age well, this one will not.

I think we can all agree on one thing at least.

It's pretty apparent how big of a role Gabriel Landeskog plays in a locker-room. This team without him has the emotional intelligence of a two-year old both during and immediately after a sugar high from hell.
This locker room needs a captain.
